Each box makes 50 kg. Hard physical work

Harvesting the grapes must be made quickly (2 weeks)

and also transported quickly , grapes must remain fresh

Important for the quality of wine champagne :)

Hard work as I said

VCP on the box means "Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin" Champagne

These grapes are for VCP !

Good grapes mean good champagne

Although this is not the best illustration of it, because it is overexposed,I like Provia very very much and above all other Fuji slidefilms

This is better. I find the color, the colordepth even, in the sand typical for Provia

Otto and with this picture ?

Otto , I think it's a same requirement for all pictures : light and sun ... but you're right to point this difference

... and your opinion Adam ?

Not wishing to de-rail the thread (I've added a BW400CN photo from the autumn to keep the pictures flowing:D) but I'm interested in your thoughts on the UK Film Lab scans, Keith. Do you feel they are a step up from the kind of scans you might get back from AG or Peak? I suppose I ought to give them a whirl but I'm slightly more put off by their policy of holding the negs than I am by the cost. If the scans are clean and sharp (I don't mind that they are 6MB JPEGs) I'd be willing to put up with the inconvenience of not having the negs to hand.

Ian, compared with Peak and AG, the files are completely dust-free, something I could not say for the negs from those two Labs. Certainly cannot fault the scans from point of view of sharpness and colour balance etc. I am a bit twitchy about not having the negs to hand - there is one file with ugly halos around bushes (see below) that I would re-scan if I had the negs to hand. Will see how UK Labs respond to my email about it. Will I use them again? Hmm, not entirely convinced but have not yet made a decision.

Nice, but to my taste I would have liked it one half stop darker to get more depth in the water / reflections. So your M7 might have been better perhaps

Thanks for your comment Otto

I forgot an important point :

with the digital M8 and M9, too much light is bad for the sensor. In general my pictures are successful with less sun and light

Keith, my lab gives me pictures in cd , by passing on their scanner included in their Noritsu

and the images do not exceed in Jpeg 1500 px length , far behind the 4000-5000 in Tiff of Epson or Nikon scanners.

... and I develop on photographic paper by the lab which is also Leica center

Ref my earlier post regarding the 'ugly halos', at 10.30 this morning I emailed UK Labs with comment on the results of my first order and mentioned the affected image. At 1.40pm today Erica emailed me with an adjusted copy and also an explanation of the level of personalised analysis of files:-

With regard to pricing, we accept that we are more expensive on paper than some other labs. However, if I may elaborate a little, we feel that the 'positives' that you mention about our service, all arise because of deliberate decisions we have made about our workflow, that are designed to result in exceptionally high quality results. This starts with a high quality development process (ensured through the use and maintenance of high quality processing equipment), through a high-quality scanning process (where each frame is assessed and correctly individually by eye) and finishing with a final editing stage to ensure consistency across the order and an unrivalled level of colour accuracy. We couple this with a very personalised approach of scanning to clients' preferences, and we also aim to be very hands-on when responding to customer service enquiries. This is undoubtedly more labour-intensive than the service provided by any other Pro lab. We are proud to offer this level of quality to discerning clients such as yourself, and we do hope that you see the value in it and continue to use our services.

Below is the revised image, merely opened in LR5 then exported/downsized for the forum. I might have been persuaded to use them again...

Alexander, superb picture of fog well reproduced by film TX

Thanks

I missed this one but it is indeed a superb capture, from which you can only conclude that Alexander really knows what he is doing in exposure and development with his personal tri-x

summilux.net • Afficher le sujet - M6/Tri-X versus M M : petit comparatif sans prétention

If you want in english , use french > english translation with "google translation" :)

Finally, Alesc the author of this thread returns to film and he is right
