Kuala Lumpur on a wet afternoon (Canon New F1 w/ FD 17mm & Tri-X). The hazy areas are from rain on the lens...

these are all superb, but I especially like the last one. Very futuristic feel, like from another planet!

With my R4S Leica and on moutain bike at minus 7°C , I shot some pictures

last week on the theme "variation on ice, light and reflection"

I don't shoot in digital because not sure I obtain all details in the shadows when

it's in contre jour like here .

I took 4 pictures and all are a success , no under-exposed

Here some pictures :)

Film is really great for this kind of shot better dynamic , that I dare not do it in digital !

I am surprised by the result

Your opinion ? :)

Some more Kodachrome, because some days you realize just how much you miss it. This is one of my favourites and is 37 years old:

...and there's even one gentleman lighting a cigarette at the back.

Wonderful photograph.

Thank you so much Suede, yes and it looks like he's using a match to do so! It's funny to time travel with pictures sometimes. This scene - people taking temporary shelter from the rain - would look vastly different today, although many of the ingredients (umbrellas; bored, forlorn faces) would be the same.

Thank you sincerely, Gregor. There are so many, many photos I've taken in the intervening years, yet this is still one of my favourites. And - chapeau!! - at first I thought you were referring to the guy at the back's hat (that is such an Australian look from that era - part of the historical oddity that the scene captures). But I was set right by the urban dictionary, and I in turn take off my hat to you!

Wonderfully arresting composition.  Great mood, as well.

A couple of months ago in Berlin. Taken with a Bronica ETRC with 50/2.8 on Portra 400

Wonderful, Michael

Music for a civic holiday, Parc Lafontaine, Montreal. Beautiful XP2, if you are interested.

Phil - I agree with all of the above comments, particularly Klaus' regarding how the people's faces pop with the darkness deepening in the background.  A great classic look with the culture and style very well captured.

These are great, Russell.  Man that first one really sings with the tones and energy.  What lens did you use?

I went to the UK National Track Cycling Championships recently.  It was the first time I'd used both the Leica for sport and Ilford Delta 3200 (Deved in Xtol).  Really happy with the results and surprised at how good the Leica is for sport based pictures.  Here's 2 images and a link for the whole album https://flic.kr/s/aHskR9WUXR

Cropped, or an A16 back Adam?

I'm looking at trying my A16 back on the SWC, just trying to find a V/F mask to help.

Gary

Cropped, Gary.  Here's the full bleed version... :)

Sincere thanks Adam. Of course we should and must relish the opportunities we have to always move onwards and upwards, however it is also valuable to remember the things that were. And here I'm not just referring to the way we once lived (say in this example) 37 years ago but also to the way the material we had to hand transformed the life we were living into some tangible memoir of those moments in their own often idiosyncratic ways. In 37 years from now of course those memories from today will be mainly on the (undoubtedly by then) fondly remembered digital files we may retain but I do wonder if those files will evoke such fondly felt and visceral memories as our old Kodachromes/Agfachromes/Velvias do today. I'm pretty sure I won't be around to find out, but I hope my children will. And I hope that the negatives and transparencies from today will provide a similar visceral experience to those who follow for many many years too.

Very good, Russell. I'll be heading down to the Australian National Track Champ's later this month, with film and digital cameras in tow. It's a pity that velodromes are always so dark, but I love shooting track.

Junior World Champ's, Aigle, Switzerland (M6 / Tri-X)...

These are lovely Wayne, especially the Illinois one - they remind me a lot of the old GAF 500 film look, so well used by Sarah Moon (eg http://agonistica.com/pirelli-calendar-by-sarah-moon-1972/) and Deborah Turbeville (https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/fashion-blog/2013/oct/31/photography-deborah-turbeville-fashion) back in the day.

PS I really want to go to Israel after seeing your pictures from there - especially the beaches and markets!

Well said, Phil.

As for Israel, I am planning to spend this summer there again and make the best tour guide... :)
