Well, well. Just won an auction for a Rolleiflex. I'm excited. It's a model 3.5b with a Tessar as far as I can tell based on serial number (one of the EV models). It looks to be in great shape, the seller claims it to appears to be near new. The photos were not that great so we'll see. Sometimes that works out in my favor - usually less people bid on auctions with lousy photos. That's how I got my M6 (mint - seriously 1 roll of film through it) for $850.  ;) Edit: now that I think of it, I think I got the M6 for $700-$750, I don't recall exactly. I just remember it being way under market for the time. I also remember cringing at making the payment because the photos were terrible, I was concerned I'd made a huge mistake (insert GOB reference here). When it showed up in the mail, turns out it looked brand spankin' new. Got lucky.

Congratulations! A good choice. If you are willing to spend some more money for a CLA, you will have a trusty friend for the next 30 years.

Just look at all these interesting pictures in this thread. Which thread in the LUF could keep up with this one?

Terrific photo Marc. Great to see you back posting too :)

I like this one a lot Klaus.

I can relate Ramesh, I just received 75 rolls of Velvia 100 which, very sadly, depleted the stock of my local pusher of expired film :(

Thanks. Yes, I have more expired film in my fridge. The problem is I keep buying film even when I do have some stocked in the fridge - just to make sure that there are no excuses for not shooting :-)

How cool to be at the rally, Henry. Very nice photos.

Splendid color Suede

Agfa Vista what beautiful color really beautiful !Thanks

Chess in the Park, Sydney

Leica M6, 50mm Lux, Reala

Also superb color Ramesh .

I think film is the only medium which makes possible to have a palette of color richer

than the digital as said also in the Times link , sent above by Ramesh !

image of film has a "soul" , not the case in digital !

Thanks Duede and Ramesh for posting

Best

I have more :) and I'll post for you.

Finally an old SLR Leica R4S dated in 1980's can also make nice photos ...

not need to follow the camera pixels or Isos race , I am tired to get stress every 3 years

and spend a lot of money for purchasing a new camera (my case with M8 and M9)  . Currently

in our french forum , we have an increase of M240 second hand sale , at the half price and

sometimes less , only 2-3 years  after the output of the camera . Crazy world !

Yes Klaus no equivalent IMO , only film can give us this rendering in color and in b&w !

The day that we can have a sensor with such rendering is still far ... that's why all of us

here in this thread appreciate film in the artistic sense of the term because it's the art

Adam will not tell me the opposite , I think !

Thanks all of you for your contribution

Long life to film

Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland. One of the most photographed locations in the UK but unlike many other places that often attract hordes of photographers, Bamburgh always seems peaceful and deserted.  Living in the moment with a peaceful sunrise, exactly as I like it.
