Aboard the Statue of Liberty ferry, New York 2016

This photo has everything: well exposed; interesting group; and....you had the presence of mind to not cut the head off of the statue....like I probably would have. :) Another thing I really like in the photo is the rendering of folks around the base of the statue. There is something about the rendering of people, when their presence is just large enough to make out individuals.

Thanks a lot, Wayne, Philip and Doc. Wayne - I think a 28mm helps with not cutting off heads (sounds painful doesn't it). With a slightly wide focal length you just have more headroom (I think there's a pun in there somewhere). And I agree with you about the "just almost but not quite seen" presence of people to perhaps humanize the picture ever so slightly.

Thanks, Philip.  The rectangular structure at the foot of the left side of the bridge is a horse carousel.  Great place for families.

Sterling stuff, Henry. A really excellent composition :)

I like it a lot, Adam. There's a nice pink-purple-gold balance to the colours throughout the frame which I like. And there's a lot of life-like clarity to the foreground. Sometimes too much drama in a photo risks being, well, just that.

Btw, what's that rectangular glass building at the foot of the bridge?

Excellent portrait, very nicely done. Looks a bit like Dennis Farina, who's one of my favourite actors.

Snow!  I love snow! :)  Love the photos!

Lovely photo, Phil.  The highlight retention in the clouds is a testament to film.  Most digital sensors would have totally bleached the sky out.  Very charming.

Bradgate Park, once the home of Lady Jane Grey, looking towards Old John (seen in my previous image).   Lady Jane was Queen for nine days until she was locked in the Tower, found guilty of treason and beheaded to make way for Mary, who of course suffered the same fate to make way for Elizabeth.  Never a dull moment in English history!
