I understand your regrets. On one hand filing down the cam gives the Summicron DR a life in the digital age. On the other hand I personally really like the close focus abilities in combination with the soft rendering of the Summicron DR. So even it it will not fit on the M's with inbuilt meter - analogue or digital, I think I refrain from neutering the lens. A quick example of what I mean below:

When I crossed road to introduce myself, he barked once and quickly offered his ears for  an introductory scratch. A fine new friend.

Like Ian (Wattsy) , I voluntarily choose the "contre-jours" , and I photograph them with my two M

(digit and analog) to see who can photograph this direct light in keeping all the details and color

(intact) in the shadows.

 

If you have backlight photos , please post them . Thanks
