Nothing like some cow dung patties to barbecue a pink snapper :) :)

Thanks for the input, all.  Really appreciate it.

Hi Adam, nice to see you back. I prefer the more saturated colours of the Velvia.

Hi Adam, I prefer the Provia. I would say that he has more details in the dark/black o strong blue areas...

Regards

Gregor

Adam, glad to see you again... Since you asked ... the Provia seems more detailed (sharper) while the Velvia is more subtle and richer in tone, perhaps the greater saturation of Velvia masks the details? However I enjoyed the Velvia version more because of the colour rendering.

Regards

Charles

That is a tough one, I am torn between the different versions. The Velvia delivers that punch and deeper colors, while the Provia seems more natural and, as Gregor mentioned before, gives a bit more detail. In the end the Provia wins this head-to-head race for me with a tiny advantage...

Whilst the Velvia obviously has greater saturation, and thereby more contrast and dimensionality, I actually prefer the more restrained and realistic colours of the Provia. It seems better balanced and cohesive as an image to me. The Velvia is at risk of appearing a little too artificial.

Great composition as usual, Adam :)

Cheers

J

Adam.....loving the beachie shots whether they are Portra or Velcro :)

Hi Adam - Those Velvia 50 colours are really punchy.  Au-naturel or some post-processing involved?  Have this morning shot a roll of Velvia 100 in my GW690II (all of eight frames!) in bright, early morning sunshine and wondering how the autumnal colours are going to come out.

Thanks, Keith.  All natural with no sugar added :)  Just like it looks on the light box.

That's Velvia 50 - punchy saturated colors that will work best with LOTS of sunlight.

But Velvia 100 does NOT have these characteristics; it is a totally different film.   It is somewhat closer to Provia 100F in its rendering, IMO.

Two more from my Sept/Oct roll of Acros 100 (M7, C-Sonnar 50mm, Rodinal 1:50).

1) Closed for the winter?  And there was me looking forward to a refreshing glass of something fruity...

2) Little & Large. On the bank of the River Loir at Durtal.

Thanks.  First time I have put a roll of E6 thro' the GW690 - I love 6x6 transparencies so the thought of 6x9 makes me impatient to see the results.  Just have to decide who to entrust it with for development now.

Nice composition and subject, but it seems as if you lightened up the shadows a bit too far. There is a bluish/magenta cast all over the frame, esp. in the face of the woman, the bikes and in front of the corner of the building. That being said, I must admit that I am a great admirer of your Rajasthan pics. Keep them coming :)
