This photo is also outstanding , color of skin , the attitude are well captured by the photographer

... and the little sunshine behind gives a very special atmosphere to the picture :)

Great picture in bad light condition

Thanks Xenia

Regards

Henry

Actually, the magazine I was photographing for, refused it because of bad light. It was later published in a book by an advertising company. The light came from a one foot square window under the roof.

One more to add to the Film Thread - SWC club ;)  Eoin, when do you plan to take delivery?

It's rather convoluted (a bit like myself) - My wife is heading over to Japan at the beginning of next month, where, if she doesn't get distracted by more interesting ways of filling in her days, she will secure one of Victor's finest. I shall then fly up to Chiangmai to see her (and what she deemed me worthy of purchasing).

I figured that, fraught with intrigue, and possibilities for going pear-shaped, it's a more interesting way of doing things than going to a shop, or buying on ebay.

Dramatic light in a country which suffered dramatic history!

I'm glad you took it at dawn, promising a new day!

All the best to you!

It is getting cold in my hometown, time to go into the darkroom. Please excuse the bad quality of the scan from a 13x18 print, I have to talk to Santa Claus about a better scanner.

best wishes

Marc

You're simply great !!! I have a bit less time as I have lots of work, -still, I'm just back from my darkroom where something new happened : I installed the Focomat 1c that arrived today... so in a while, You'll see first pics with this enlarger.

Henry asked me for portraits - I do have some more. Here's one I made of my old chap the sculpterer Bertrand Ney, in June.

Adam.....did you use the ground glass/view finder for this shot?   I was out today playing with mine, I have the straight viewfinder.   I find it quite dark around the edges, and  subject in picture starts to get distorted as the frame moves away from center.

Hi Marc - Yes, I used the GG focus screen and RMFX prism finder.

Sorry for missing the fun over the past couple of days.

Allow me to jump back into the rhythm with a couple of scorched sunflowers from Jerusalem.

I welcome any personal preference between the two...

Is there a drastic difference in what you see, between the RMFX and the Straight Chimney viewfinder?  Honestly for me, the setup was not even usable given all the time it takes to use .  Besides being quite dark and the frame getting distorted as you move away from center (my ground glass is new old stock) I focused on a subject and then checked the distance on the lens vs what my laser said; the distance was off by feet.  I reverted to my tried and trusted method and put ground glass away for now.  Thoughts?

I don't have a chimney finder but I will tell you that when I look through the prism finder through the ground glass - and importantly adjust the aperture to f4.5 to get max brightness - I get a full frame sublime view through the lens.  Pure bliss.  And I am able to focus critically on anything and see exactly what the image will look like if shot wide open.  We'll have to meet up and compare notes on this one day for lunch...

For sure...lets try and make this happen soon.  I'll bring in my gear, perhaps you can bring your finder so we can compare.  My attempt was with the lens wide open, I just gave it up for another day.  I need to see that bliss!
