Thank you Henry. I know you love both mediums so this will appeal possibly to you.

Out of curiosity I fiddled a bit in Photoshop.

At the time I took this pic, I also had the Leica T with me, with the 28 Elmarit M.

The R8 had the R28-70.

I took the T shot, then stuffed the T into the bag, and extracted the R8, and took a shot. (I did this a fair chunk of the day, taking shots with both cameras, from similar/same viewpoint).

The two shots I then opened in CS6, cut them roughly in half and placed them sort of together. It's not a perfect join, I obviously shuffled slightly, and the respective FOV's were not exact, but you get the idea. Left side if R8 with Kodak 200. The right is Leica T, DNG.

Gary

Thanks Gary for the comparison.

The red and the green of trees on the hill at right are more vivid in film and the important grain

on the facade of the building is nicer ,missing in T !

You probably remember that I went on a humanitarian mission to care in a refugee camp about one month,

the photos were taken but developed after my return mission in Asia
Here are some pictures taken with my M7 (Kodak Portra 160) with 35 Lux Asph lens and MP (Kodak TX400) with

50 Summilux Asph.

First, it is surprising to have only tents and wooden barracks
The faces of the refugees show you their worry and suffering. They expect to go in the UK for some who have family there.
The health situation is correct and humanitarian organizations are responsible for managing the daily not easy in some cases.

There is a medical center for first aid. The situation I describe is sad as leaving everything behind and go on an adventure like this,

the smugglers are there to steal everything they have !
Sometimes forget that and a smile for pleasing the organizers and the people like us who come to help in caring.

very nice, Christpoh.  But I have a feeling that the words on the sign add this this photo.  What does it say, for us uncultured folk?

Adam, thanks for the info--very interesting. That Sofort looks like thus turning into a pocket MF camera with a Leica lens! By the way, do you happen to know the dimensions of the negative surface of Fuji films? The company's site mentions several sizes.

Paul

I don't know, Paul, but I will try to look it up.

Superb again Adam the color is great and without electric pole

The nature and only the wild nature as we like :)

Thanks for posting

It's really incredible this salt deposited

Thanks, Henry.  The idea that this ancient and desolate area could have electrical wires running through it and street lights is quite exciting to me as it demonstrates the technological prowess of the country.

I'll continue to bore you with thoughts on compositions. So this idea of negative space, right, what's your view on that? I find it tricky to execute sometimes, particularly when there are several planes in a photo. Here are three examples. Not the greatest photos (though Henry might enjoy the balloon photo). All Rollei Retro 80S in Diafine with the 50 Summicron (11817).

Philip - All are lovely.  IMHO, the first doesn't really involve negative space as the square bricks on the right fill positive space.  That one is my fav.  The second, IMO, has negative space, as does the third but the third seems to do less with the negative space than the second.

Some negative space for Philip :)

This is from Mount Sodom (from the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah), which is in the mountains that run along the Dead Sea.  I took us on a private Jeep tour, stopping the driving for photo ops along the way... (more to come...)

And Eoin, these look less contrasty than some earlier street shots. Is that a change of film, developer or my vision?

I'm going to have to sit and think for a bit on assessing which of my pictures I like. Out of the roll of Tri-X I exposed earlier this week, I posted up
Rushes and Reeds as the last of four as it ranked that way in my view. It has become my first and only picture to make it to the Flickr Explore page. Beats me as to why!

Thanks, Adam. It's a bit hard to get closer with a waist level finder (unless you want pictures of waists...), but I'll keep trying. Still not up to your 28mm wonders, though.

Yes I agree with Adam

you have changed your style Eoin closer now

Great series I like much

What lens ?

Thanks for posting Eoin

thanks, Henry. It's the standard 80mm Planar on a Hasselblad 503. The 'clunk' of the shutter is enough to have people diving for cover.

Hi, Chris.

After a bit of playing around, I've settled on Tri-X @ ISO 200, in RO9 @ 1:50 for 9:30m (~20ºC) as my current favourite (which changes just about every time I shoot some photo's). I haven't had much time for shooting or developing of late. Maybe tomorrow...

Cheers,

Eoin

My opinion is that I am grateful for all people who make an effort to help those less fortunate. It takes an awful lot of inner strength for a family to leave everything it has, and head for the unknown. Thank you for helping, and thank you for sharing your photo's.

Eoin thank you for this first testimony . It touches me to see that it still exists in this world to me unacceptable inequalities.

As for me, I try to help as I can , but if everyone can take the hand and live in peace and happiness...

... but I know it's not easy

Best regards Eoin

Thank you Henry (ps it's a ballooooon :) )

Philip I like much the first for the composition and the nice b&w tone

The second there is too much white space to the left
I do not know if my argument is valid . I would liked a watering can next to the tap

instead of the garbage can lid :) to stay in the garden composition

For the last picture is the moon down at right to replace the jets ? :D

Thanks for posting and asking for our thoughts

Thanks Adam, that is a very interesting observation about the bricks in the first one. I hadn't thought of that.

Very good stuff :) and a dramatic composition too plus brilliant colours. Reminds me I need to go through my MF rolls.
