I remember those days all too well, the sending away, the wait, then the darkness (or lightness of the light-table). Ah, those days. Mostly K25 in my time.

Now, we have instant gratification, you can chip, delete, and shoot again.

Gary

Yes, and we've lost something along the way. The delay cycle of Kodachrome was like giving oneself a birthday treat each time those yellow plastic boxes of slides turned up.

As a slightly dissenting voice ;) , I never had these memories as film was pretty much out as a consumer vehicle when I was young

I have really discovered it in the last few years as a beautiful way to take pictures with a unique quality and mood:

There is a time for instant gratification and there is also a time for thought, preparation and contemplation ...

the visit to pick up the negatives and CD or waiting for the envelope is just as exciting ...

Nice shot, Colonel.

My turnaround time for Kodachrome used to be 3-4 weeks - long enough to have forgotten what I shot. I could keep the joy at a steady fix by regularly sending films in for processing.

Waiting for the film to dry, then should have something hopefully to show from my efforts this morning.............not too much as I am a wounded soldier but enjoying getting back into shooting film :)

Wounded, as in physically harmed, or wounded as in at your wits end with the S debacle Neil?

Either way, welcome back to the real world.
