I'll try Kodak TMax100 during my mission trip but I am afraid I'll not have this "deep" black

Henry - your photo with tri-x is wonderful. Yes, i love the deep black. But i am just not an expert in B&W film to be in a position to discriminate. I discriminate plenty too much with color film!!! :)

I think they were consciously trying to emulate the days of the British Empire when they posed that way!

 

The film used for the icehole fishing was a slide film sold by Dixon's - a British chain of tech shops rather like Radio Shack in the US. I don't know if they still exist, nor can I tell who made the film for them. The slide mounts just say 'Dixons'. It was probably Agfa or Orwo cheapness being of the essence to that chain!

Not so unlucky!   I really like this with its soft, almost shadowless, greys that comes from diffused light.  To my mind, it's much nicer than harsh blacks and baked highlights.
