I snapped up an SWC/M a couple of months ago! Wow. I love it! Very much!! So versatile for such a 'basic' camera. I'll have to get around to uploading some of my scans from it...

Ah, another one converted, awesome. We need to form an SWC group, somewhere, LOL.

I'm trying to do a little more blogging at the moment to give a little more purpose to the general shooting that I do and to put what I find about shooting film in a place other than my head.

I'd appreciate a little feedback on this post if that's OK.  If this is not the place please say and I'll delete the post.

The write up is about the photos from the Veledrome I took recently.

Nice pictures in the link and pleasing lecture

Some photos are duplicate ? Is this volunteer ?

You should try the Kodak TMAX400 or TX400 developed in pure D76

Very fine grain too and deep black

Thanks for sharing Russel

You said color is not satisfying ? Here a proof  :

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/268614-first-impressions-m10/?p=3196257

IMO , digital electronic device cannot give a true and natural color for the moment

The research must continue . Full algorithm in the analysis for a good restitution

of the color not yet ready !

You said magenta skin ?

In waiting for ... use film

I've yet to read it through Henry, but will.

Essentially though I am not ever going to buy an M10, it just isn't me, and the cost to me is simply something I cannot justify.

I do however enjoy shooting digital, as and when it suits me. I am not hard nosed anti-digital, and use either if and whenever. My digital cameras now are simply the old and lovely X-Vario, and a new Fuji X-Pro2.

Of late I have been trying to do a comparison, X-Pro2 to the film camera I have in operation at the time. This is either the M6 or the R8. It's difficult in many ways, but the biggest "difference" is the M or R is full frame, whereas the Fuji is APS.

I ran a comparison, M6 with the 50 Summicron M, and the X-Pro2 with the 35 Summicron M, which gives similar but not exact field of view, and the lenses are of a "similar" vintage, so "look" the same.

Is there a difference? Indeed, but nobody would argue otherwise, they ARE different. Which do I prefer? Neither/both. Digital is cleaner, sharper, and quicker, no fuss, take the pic, upload via the phone and e mail it if I want.

Film I must shoot, hope like heck I got the shot, process the film, and scan (or print).

Two different disciplines, each with their own strengths, and weakness.

One thing is likely, you can have a play with the X-Pro2 in August, it will be along for the ride, accompanied by the M6, and the SWC, I'm going the whole hog.

Russell, there have been some constructive comments and what I enjoyed was the personal approach to your photographs, your own view of the event where spectators are included in the photographs. But keep writing as you say it brings purpose and depth work and is an avenue for your thoughts.

Welcome to this tread (and the forum) I loved the tonal depth of your photograph, just a thought though I may have lowered the camera a bit to exclude so much sky. Did you take more images at the event? I'd like to see some more.

Thanks for sharing

.... some complement here :

"In turn, the spectral response of the output device is different from the spectral response of the human eye. Therefore, “perfect” color reproduction is not possible" here we are

the fault : Bayer filter , algorithm not perfect or .... ?

... some more complement here :

I am very critical vis à vis myself and vis à vis what is proposed to me and sells
And I like to share with you here in film thread , to show you that perfection is not yet there

not easy to reproduce natural color seen with our eyes !

Thank you Gary, I would certainly like to see that panorama. I've wanted to shoot the sun using filters since I saw this shot

Thank you Philip.

No real tips, I took three frames, and possibly could have used just the two, I like a bit more overlap.

Aligned them within Photoshop, and blended the edges as well, sometimes I use the eraser tool to make the edges a bit softer.

I had plenty of practice when I was shooting solar Ha pictures, I could post one but it's with non-Leica, a webcam no less. I can e mail you one if you like. These solar shots were often composites of nine or more separate shots.

With that sort of work you either get good or give up.

Gary

Delightful Keith. Acros in Rodinal seems a very good combo.

Gary sometimes you can have in some pictures a little blue cast

It can come from development IMO. In this case you correct a little

the temperature in LR (I do it) , it's nicer and more natural. I'll post

if you agree.

Thanks Christophe,
