Nikon F2S, Nikkor-S 55mm 1.2, Kodak Gold200.  When you can't find and/or afford a Noctilux, other lenses are also available.  Some say the Nikkor 50 1.2 is the better lens but, having tried both, I much prefer this earlier 55mm (also does a lovely job on a Leica SL).

What a punchy photograph! Top class composition, to which end the orange filter contributed generously.

Bravo!

There are times when you wish the film back had colour when you have B&W.

Even going  as far as to borrow and then order an M11 Monochrom. But, looking through the Leica M - First 70 years book that came out last year, I was always drawn far more to the film rather than digital black and white photos. So I’ve spent the last 6 months or so working on my technique and developing process, and, so far, seem much happier with the results (still lots to learn). Plus, no digital monochrom camera = a crap load of film I can purchase :)

Did you buy the Monochrome?

I must admit, I almost stopped shooting black and white film. I was in love with color and for a while preferred digital monochrome.

I shot 99.9% of my imagery in colour because that was what the clients wanted. When working on these projects (mostly TV commercials) I was in full control of the colours in the image. This changed when I started shooting stills. I quickly learned that shooting landscapes in colour can work nicely on certain subjects, but when documenting events and regular life the motleyness and arbitrary colouring of what surrounds me isn’t only challenging my eye but also gets in the way of my photography. Thus, I now exclusively use B&W for daily shooting and can't be happier. Also, development is much less of a chore.

Nice pictures, BTW!!

A fantastic picture, Charles—above all, it’s full of associations. Walking barefoot on a forest floor—memories of childhood, smells, and sounds come alive. As for the woman, I’ll say nothing; those are more grown-up thoughts.
