This is the Karlberg palace, built in 1630 and centrally located in Stockholm. The Royal War Academy was founded there in 1792 and the location has been used as military academy every since. This makes it the world's oldest military academy to remain in its original location. Large parts of the area including the beautiful park are accessible to the public. Welcome, dear visitor! The shapes and tones, those direct gazes, the dark of the hair against the light of the skin... even that area of negative space, which at first concerned me a little, has come to be part of the narrative I see in this picture. Just simply a wonderful photograph, and please tell me you've made a print of it. Thank you Philip, if the truth be told the photo made itself (as did the other I posted on the thread a while ago of the girls reading to each other). Working with two artists turned the shoot around and I became a participant and partner in a memorable day in November last year. Oh and yes the photo was presented as a scan of a print.

You will enjoy a glimpse at the palette of Breton Tuna Boats by California Impressionist Edgar Payne, if you can find it (them). There are so many boats, but these really have me bobbing. A fine homage to Diebenkorn and the way he arranged form with space and colour. That these are "fragments of the real world" is remarkable.
