I had to leave my home at 4am, fortunately Adam and Dirk wanted to come to the other side of the river and shoot the lower west side of Manhattan. I suggested this spot, one I pass every day going to work. Getting up 2hours earlier than I normally do (on a Sunday) was a little difficult, but well worth the effort. It was really nice to meet up with some fellow members you see here. Meeting Dirk for the first time was great and I haven't shot with Adam in some time, we were long over due. I couldn't wait to get home and develop the negatives, looking forward to seeing what Adam and Dirk captured during this glorious sunrise. Whenever I will have the opportunity to come over again, I would like to go out shooting with you guys on some of these fabulous locations! I applaud Dirk who was feeling a bit under the weather yet still sucked it up and took advantage of the opportunity. 8 hours ago, joergel said: Leica R4 - Summicron-R 2/50 - Ektar100 Really love it, Joerg!! 8 hours ago, DirkR440 said: just a basic scan that I got from the lab, but I still like it: New York on film by Dirk R., auf Flickr Very good, Dirk. I had a look at the two crops and for me cropping this image will just turn it into a bit of a "meh normal beach scene". To my mind the scene only really comes alive on a really long stretch of film like below. I realise that for a large print the image isn't finished so for instance removing the various dark stones and sticks on the beach will add to the clean and pristine look that the image conveys. So in my opinion print it BIG and print it, um is that tall or long? Whichever, as long as the proportions are kept. Sorry, Philip - I am a little backed up on my catching up and totally blew past your very kind and thoughtful comment. I really appreciate your close look and the time you took to do this!

Adan's expressions, along with the fabulous light on his younger model's incredible hair, make compelling viewing. In both cases, superlative work.

So after further review....the issue is not as noticeable on the hi res tiff, however It turns out that I had a bad scanner setting. My white point setting in VueScan was at 1 as opposed to 0...thank you @A miller. As a result the scan started to drop grain rapidly and crush the highlights just slightly away from the buildings creating an unnatural transition . By re scanning with the white point setting at zero, the grain is returned for an even balanced transition and better representation of the negative. 2
