wattsy Posted January 25, 2018 Share #46392 Posted January 25, 2018 A wonky horizon for Adam from last spring (actually I don't think it is as wonky as it looks, it is a canal bank that is angling away from where I was stood). Ramesh Posted January 25, 2018 Share #46393 Posted January 25, 2018 Ramesh, Astonishingly beautiful as usual, and only 2 hours up the road What did you rate the NPC160 at for exposure. I’m sure I still have some in the freezer from 2008. Cheers J Thank you for your kind words. I rate both the Fujifilm and Kodak 160 films at 100. Cheers, Ramesh

Ian - I'm not sure one always wants horizons to be straight; sometimes even a little slant may help the composition. There is a classic book, Cezanne’s Composition: Analysis of his form with diagrams and photographs of his motifs, by Erle Loran, a painter, who in the 1920s lived a couple of years in Cezanne's studio. He photographed some of Cezanne's motifs, shown in his book together with analytical diagrams highlighting Cezanne's composition: including slanting horizons, leaning verticals and tables whose right and left sides don't line up. Here's a page from the book. Edited January 25, 2018 by Nowhereman

Steve Ricoh Posted January 25, 2018 Share #46400 Posted January 25, 2018 Steve, nice image - you have nailed the exposure. I am a sucker for compositions with leading lines :-)Thanks Ramesh - I'm the same, but normally the more subtle variety.Exposure wise I used an incident meter, compensating for the yellow filter. Might have been September or October, but definitely in the sunny UK.
