Superb colors, James. You had really good light! Very nice shots in Berlin too.

The light we had was indeed incredible. The color changes during the day, esp. during dusk and dawn where absolutely amazing. There is imho an immense difference to the light we are used to here in Europe.

Film is never ending "fun". I have about twenty metal re-loadable cassettes to check for light leaks. My hand-held meter was not working for first time and I under fixed two rolls. :)

M4-2 wiht Ultron 28 1.9 ASPH and HP5+ film.

This is good, Steve. Are you sure it isn't part of the building? The converging lines look to be right.

Thanks Eoin.

I've checked the other 71 frames and this appears to be a one off, although it's hard to say with some being near black on the negative. It could be part of the building but it would be a rather unusual feature if it is. The next time I'm in the area I will check it out.

Thank you for the very nice compliment. I was standing there, next to the weeds, for about ten minutes looking at the various hulks being stored there. It was a very gray/grey :) morning. I had seen the weeds before, but, for some reason, our of nowhere, a brief shift in light illuminated them in a different way........Sort of like something was saying: "Look at these weeds again."

"Point of departure." That is great. It allows one to interpret in whatever way they wantl, but yet, leads one to think of completing something and making a statement......something for others to consider, but pertaining entirely to you. A communication?..............."I was here, and this is what it meant to me." It is fascinating. If you are true to yourself, it affords an opportunity to communicate at a very base level. One that escapes all barriers associated with the spoken word.

In the case of my photo, it is maybe getting a bit redundant: "There's Wayne....out in the weeds again." :)

Haha yeah, gray / grey; we normally use Gray as in someone's name.

Re Point of Departure, you've given me yet a further interpretation to ponder upon, thanks Wayne. It would be great to have broader discussion on this with the greater membership of the film group, for instance have they discovered their own standpoint and their distinctive style. I think I can spot a 'Wayne' at 25 yards, in a nice way. :)

This is a wonderful idea. Wayne's writing on his thoughts about photography always give a fascinating insight, and I think much of what you say Wayne applies to all of us. And it is, as you suggest Steve, really worthwhile for us all to think about what motivates us, our thought processes as we take each valuable film frame, and whether we believe we're achieving a style that we can be happy with. It would be a fascinating addendum to the rich vein of pictures in this thread.

And another detail from a bench in the park:

Just love this James - an Atget by any other name. Sumptuous details in the light tones and a strong composition. Wonderful.

Two Friday's ago we had some unusually mild weather and it caused there to be fog rising from the river in the early morning.

I took three film stocks with me but once again neglected to bring my spot meter

I shot HP5 at box speed and Tri-X at 800.  They both came out essential looking the same!

Here's the Tri-X version, which I think has slightly better blacks (probably from the push)

Adam this is a killer shot. Who needs a spot meter? You have so many moods of New York in your portfolio!

The colours, and the strength of composition, are simply wonderful in these pictures from Jordan, Edward. You have recognized the wonderful light and used it to brilliant effect.

On a tacit cue, he remained still long enough for me to take the picture. Siem Reap.

This could be an HC-B! Just a wonderful portrait that begs to be made into a beautiful print - sensational, Pritam.

Are any other film users ("filmo's"? "filmsters"?) considering submitting work for inclusion in the LUF Charity Book 2018? Not only is it in aid of a wonderful charity that in one way or another will benefit us all (World Cancer Research Fund) but it is an opportunity to showcase our best work alongside the best of the truly talented photographers on this forum. And be published! And maybe exhibited at the Leica Store in Manchester! I have submitted my pictures and would hope that pictures on film will end up making a sizeable contribution to the end product. Plus of course, the more of us that enter, means the more that goes towards cancer research - it's giving in a way that is a win-win situation.

So, if you are thinking about it, I urge you to get some pictures together and submit them if you haven't already: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/279905-leica-user-forum-charity-book-2018-the-instructions/

Thanks, Eoin. :)

Exquisite! Well done, Adam!

Thanks.  I was trying to catch the tail end of some steam coming up from the river and though the usual very long exposure would wash it out.  The color version showcases the steam a little more.

That water motion is wonderful, Adam. Not the usual silky long exposure, and not the sharp short one - Fluidity personified!

Awesome, Edward.  Love the different colors in the layers of mountains.

This is fantastic, James.  Spot on colors to fit the scene.

Edward's pictures from Jordan reminded me of a trip 4 years ago:

Very cool, Eoin .  It is a lot of fun to use that camera in situations like this.

I'm heading over to Vietnam today, so hope to get enough free time to take some snaps.

Thanks, Phil.  And to answer your question, I need a spot meter!! :)  Like a fish out of water without it :)

Very smooth tones on this one!

Thanks for taking the lead on this, Phil.  Because of it, I will look to get off of my lazy ass and submit a photo or two. :)

Could you possibly post the HP5 version for comparative purpose. Thanks Adam.

At your service, Steve.  Here's the HP5 (box speed) version:
