Ramesh Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46161 Posted January 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Beautiful, Ramesh. I can imagine the joy you had when you first viewed this slide on your light box! Adam, Thanks a lot - I really appreciate it coming from a highly accomplished photographer like you. Every time I see the amazing pictures you post, some of which require braving extreme elements to capture, it inspires me to strive harder. The recent series of photos of your NYC street scene are simply awesome. Yes, Velvia sings when you get the exposure right while photographing landscapes. Ramesh Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46162 Posted January 21, 2018 Talk about a fortuitous pairing of pictures! Adam's could hardly be more bleak while Ramesh's shows a paradise that those people on the streets of New York would, in the moment, have trouble believing could even exist. Both simply fantastic photographs. Thanks a lot. I had to bracket 3 exposures and one of them turned out to be ok. Regards, Ramesh
A miller Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46163 Posted January 21, 2018 Ha, ha, thanks. That's a lot of cropping! My favourite of the NYC winter series. The central figure captures everything. The selfy could be cropped out.Cheers,J Sincere thanks, Eoin, and yes, I often wonder what is with me :) This is a 'Wow' from me, Adam. I like the window of flurries that allows for the face to appear, and the light of the selfie-taker. Taking photo's of a selfie-er taking photo's in a snow storm...What's with us, indeed? Thanks for the kind words but I would love to have taken that beautiful seaside photo. It is very inspiring! stray cat Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46165 Posted January 21, 2018 I like the fact of the pulling force outside of the frame, Phil. It is as if there were a rolling conveyor belt, and you managed to stop a portion of it, for however briefly. This is something I really like about pedestrian children - Their distraction is 100%, sometimes to the point of immobilisation, as opposed to adults, where body movement comes first, and the mind follows. Thank you so much, Eoin. Yes, that's a great point - tension in a photograph is up there (for me at least) with mystery. These can be devices to hold you into a photograph, and keep it with you after you've moved on. I fully agree with your point about children, too - their lack of self-consciousness, at least in the vain sense - always "in the moment" rather than thinking backwards or forwards. A photograph that, regrettably, I'd probably never attempt in Australia, but as natural as you like in Mexico. What a shame!

All dogs are my dog. I can't help it. They look like a great pair to hang out with. Edited January 21, 2018 by Wayne
stray cat Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46167 Posted January 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) They did look a likely pair, and were receiving a fair bit of attention from passers-by (like me). I asked the owner, who's sitting in the ute, for permission first. I'll admit to being just a little disconcerted by the hungry-looking direct gaze, and drool, of the one on the right.
edwardkaraa Posted January 21, 2018 Share #46168 Posted January 21, 2018 Utterly engulfed...and still taking selfies ...what's with us? NYC Portra 400 M7, 28 elmarit pre-asph [ NYC in the snow by Adam Miller.jpg Thank you for your comments Adam. This is my Favorite shot yet of the snowstorm series, apart from the grumpy black lady It really shows the narcissism and shallowness of the human race.

It has a documentary quality that makes it really interesting.
