Wayne Posted November 25, 2017 Share #42921 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) An historical (or should that be hysterical) self portrait, this time from 1975. Please note that I am using my very first SLR camera. Also I am wearing my very last beige or turtle-neck sweater: autoportrait, St Kilda Road, Melbourne 1975 Canon TLb, FDn 50mm f1.8, Kodachrome 64 I am truly floored. Not only is it a very nice shot, but has been filed in such a way that, now, 2017, 42 years on, you have all the specifics about the shot.......Even the place it was taken. That is organization at level I am unable to even comprehend. However, the turtle-neck sweater thing is something I do understand. I can remember my poor mother's frustration as she tried to convince to wear a nice, new one she purchased for me. She insisted I wear it to my Uncle's Christmas party that year. I refused. I remember that event as though it happened yesterday. It, too, happened in 1975. Best, Wayne Edited November 25, 2017 by Wayne
Advertisement Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Hi Wayne, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MT0227 Posted November 25, 2017 Share #42922 Posted November 25, 2017 Thanks for the kind words Philip. Very nicely balanced photo with the trees and their reflection. That the reflection picked up the deeper blue of the sky adds a nice dimension and makes you look again.
A miller Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42923 Posted November 26, 2017 Good one, Philip. But isn't it an "autoportrait"? I guess now I am confused unless the terms are synonymous...? So what do you do when you've handed the car in for switching to summer tyres in a really boring area with only car dealerships and repair shops as far as the eye can see? Shoot a self-portrait of course I know, this is getting lame. I need to scan some more... Flickr 90 Elmarit-M Superia 400 Thanks for the feedback, Philip. This is exactly what I was after. Great colours here Adam, the leaves look very natural. Good one, Wayne. You really go back in time with that rendition... The other day, while strolling around, I noticed the town Christmas bunting is up around the courthouse and juvenile detention center. the combination of Christmas bunting and concertina wire got me to thinking. In American Christmas lore it is common to use the threat of Santa Claus to motivate children to behave: "He is making a list, checking it twice"......... But, at least in my county, it is Judge H. who determines who has been "naughty or nice." img136-2.JPG Minox B, Holga 400
stray cat Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42924 Posted November 26, 2017 As some of you are undoubtedly aware, the Rome One Challenge took place recently in Rome. I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to go to one of the brilliant muse of Rome, watch the visitors and try to capture a winning photo there. Well, I did not capture a winning photo, but am quite happy with the overall result, a few of which I show here. This one was my entry to the One Challenge: 171014_4_M5_0017.jpg M5, 35, Foma400, ns Rgds Christoph Christoph, these are outstanding museum photographs. Not only have you caught wonderful moments, but you have captured the light in such a way that it is difficult to misenterpret the location as Rome - and the classicism of the scene and setting is reinforced. Lovely work. As Marc mentioned, my focus this Fall was primarily the colorful leaves Leaf Soup Ektar, 250 superachromat leaf soup.jpg Adam - this should be blown up to cover an entire wall. Outstanding. I am truly floored. As for my filing system, it is not that great. I remember the year and location because it was a pretty good year, being 19 and working and living close to the city. The next year I started uni, and that was good too. I do wish I'd had your fortitude and not given in to wearing the turtle-neck though.
sblitz Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42925 Posted November 26, 2017 Now, Cinestill 50 (no schmootz, luckily) fall leaves.jpg It's interesting how the Cinestill disrespects the reds and how Ektar grabs a hold of them and stays real to the other colors with a sense of strength). And how the Cinestill renders a golden theme throughout. Both sublime, IMHO. The cinestill looks a little cooler in color, hard to find fault with either, just a matter of the vision you want. Of course with the flatter cinestill you can always bring up the red in the computer.

A miller Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42935 Posted November 26, 2017 The opposite of exciting and dynamic, but I liked the seductive curve of the iconic Bow Bridge (in Central Park) against the backdrop of the Fall foliage. stray cat Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42939 Posted November 26, 2017 Street café Street Café.jpg Berlin Love the light in this one, Suede. I remember watching on TV an interview a while back with Helmut Newton who said he treasured the "Grey" light in Berlin. Do you find it like this? Obviously you have quite dramatic light, too.
Wayne Posted November 26, 2017 Share #42940 Posted November 26, 2017 The 'spy' camera seems fully at home for such covert operations Thanks. For some reason, as I was watching the two, it reminded me of Norman Rockwell. I hated getting a haircut at that age.
