See where contrast and deep blacks can lead us ...!! Thanks a lot , I love that photo of Martine Franck and it was taken in "Le Brusc" , a small town where my parents actually live ... I have never thru the years encountered that swimming pool yet will inquire for sure , I'll be there again next month :-) ... Cheers, Jean-Marc ( out of "Thanks" for the day : You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day )[/size] Jean Marc, Looking at Google, you'll find a pool just like the one you are looking for opposite the "island" Le petit Gueirouard, at 47'0409N and 5'4756E Rgds C. philipus Posted August 19, 2017 Share #38624 Posted August 19, 2017 Thanks Henry. Will you be shooting Superia in Ghent on Monday? For Philip in Fuji Color Superia Leica R4S-Summicron 50-Fuji Superia 100 Emerald Buddha pagoda Laos Image4watemervtefuji+++-2-1000.jpg Image4watprakeobudh+++550.jpg Best Henry Very nice Wayne. Well spotted shadow tree. img645.JPG Leica SL, 60mm Macro-Summarit 2.8, triX I like this one Jean-Marc, it made me think of all those zombie walks that are so popular, though this would be more the cartoon variety. Thanks a lot Stray Cat, I do have a mission now and will be doing my best... Here an unrelated and much more recent photo with TriX - Leica M3 - 50 lux v3 , in Buenos Aires, Argentina : La Recoleta by JM__, on Flickr Cheers, Jean-Marc. Very nice series Patrick. Few frames from the last few days. Mix of Leica M6 and 50cron and Olympus Om-1 and 50mm 1.4 Zuiko ( wow what a camera ! ) thanks for watching. Thank you Ian. I'll try your hunting tips next time I see a nice one. I agree the Blues are really spectacular. I don't see them very often though. That Ringlet is cool. So well camouflaged for its environment. Thanks Philip. Some species are easier to approach than others but generally it comes down to a bit of practice and anticipating where the butterflies might be feeding on nectar. Quite often the butterflies are so engaged in what they are doing that they become almost oblivious to what I'm doing (provided I don't make any sudden movements or get close enough to blot out the light). With the Blues (probably my favourite species) they are usually much easier to photograph first thing in the morning or late in the day when they tend to just sit catching the sun with their wings outspread. Here's a Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus) on bramble flowers. If I hadn't seen it previously moving about I probably would have missed it (the colour of its wings almost perfectly matching the browns of the bramble).

sixteen pads Posted August 19, 2017 Share #38632 Posted August 19, 2017 I came across these trucks on a drive out into North Yorkshire, UK and I only had a digital Fuji with me so, later I went back and photographed them on B&W film. Film is Fomapan 400 - I always liked Kodak TRI-X but lately the price and availability of a bulk 30m roll is just way high and Fomapan 400 seems to be a pretty good replacement. I still have individual rolls of TRI-X for my other projects but I wish that Kodak would start doing the 30m rolls at a reasonable price again! Developed in D76 1+1 and I find that Fomapan 400 is probably about right in my set up exposed at ISO 320. It's pretty flexible though so I would think that anywhere between ISO 200 and 500 would still be OK - I like a bit denser negative though so I tend to give it plenty for the shadow detail. It's not an exact science though as it's a nice film and seems to always deliver. Combination of Leica MP with type 4 28mm Elmarit and Leica 111F with 50mm collapsible "radioactive" Summicron that has a nice pale yellow colour to it! Lovely series ! Great tones.

Guest JMF Posted August 19, 2017 Share #38640 Posted August 19, 2017 (edited) A mysterious and really cool photo, Jean-Marc. Jean-Marc, Your photos are always a joy to look at (Like Adam and Phil I was reminded of Martine Franck's picture too when seeing your earlier contribution), and I am curious what your investigations will turn up. In the meantime I am inspired by your pictures from that famous city of the dead in BsAs, which brings back some memories... Rgds C. Jean Marc, Looking at Google, you'll find a pool just like the one you are looking for opposite the "island" Le petit Gueirouard, at 47'0409N and 5'4756E Rgds C. Thanks my friends, I might have to enter private grounds... I often go mountain bike riding along that cliff and there are a few mansions that might host such a swimming pool. I recall an intense heat wave was over France during the summer of 1976 when Martine Franck took the famous photo ! Christoph, you can spot the little island Le Gueirouard on this photo, a nice diving spot as well.
