"I was just about to throw out this bag of old camera stuff - would you like it?" One of the items was a pristine-looking Olympus OM2n with 50mm Zuiko Auto-S lens - and yesterday I put a roll of Acros 100 through it... Faceless Shopper Backlit Seedhead Ornate Lamp Very nice set, Keith. The Acros has an outstanding rendering. One thing I have noticed is that it seems a phenomenon exclusive to my Barnack cameras. While very low exposure does result in high graininess when Ms- or virtually any of my non-Leica cameras- are used, the noticeable banding is not there. It may be a ridiculous speculation, but I sometimes wonder if modern emulsions reveal a characteristic, associated with Barnack camera shutter curtain action, not apparent when ancient emulsions were in use. The below was taken in very low light with M3 and 50mm Summicron DR. I forget film used but am pretty confident would have been ISO 400. It was most likely developed in Rodina, and using the same develpment technique and equipment.....No banding. image92891 by W P_, on Flickr I continue not understand what it's wrong . I took this with my Ihagee folding 6.5x9 plate camera. I use a Suydem 120 roll film back on it. I am searching for a second back. I am taking a road trip through Yellowstone and the Badlands next month. I would love to be able to shoot both black and white and color. May be someone here can help me Henry If you look at the zone approximately 1/3 of the way down from the door knob you can see some very faint horizontal banding that spans the photograph. As this photo was taken in vertical orientation, the banding would have appeared as vertical banding if the camera was held in horizontal orientation. I'll tell a funny story about my two OM-2ns, which I decided were nice enough to deserve a trip to the US for a full CLA. They came back and there was duty owing on them based on the value declared by the repairman, despite him also saying on the customs form that they were 'returned goods'. So I paid up, took them home and completed the form on the back of the customs demand explaining they were sent from Canada for servicing and ought not to attract duty on return. To support my claim, I enclosed copies of the repair estimate, the actual bill and the original shipping documentation. I assumed I'd get my $70 back with no problem. Two weeks later I get a phone call from Border Sevices. "Did you actually pay that amount for the repairs, sir?" Yes, says I, in all innocence. "Well in that case the cameras have increased in value enormously, and were under-declared at re-entry, we'll be sending you another bill"! Our Goods and Services Tax is a value-added tax (I know I need not describe the evils of VAT to Brits) and the buggers are going to charge me 15% on the cost of work done in the US. I'm not sure that's right at all, but for $45 extra I guess I'll pay up and shut up. The OM's are worth it. Having taken the pair up to Cape Breton and enjoyed the convenience of two bodies, one with B&W and one with colour film, I ought to confess to having bought a second F6 so I can do the same with them.
