Since tomorrow is Bastille Day, this is a small “merci” for one of France’s many gifts to us all – gothic architecture.

This is the Basilica of Saint Denis in a suburb of Paris. This was the first gothic structure ever, built under the guidance of Abbott Suger (pronounced soojay) in the 12th century.  It is a bit of a hike from the centre of Paris (take the metro), but well worth the effort. All the great cathedrals of western Europe flow from this place.

XP2, if it matters.

Love the tones... and a bonne fête nationale to Doc Henry, Jean-Marie and all French forum members.

Here some preparations pictures , during this wedding of Etienne :)

I took all pictures in film Kodak TX400 this time and in color Kodak Portra

Some with digital but not the majority . Finally Etienne , like Sylvain , prefer

This is lovely, the light through the trees, the muted colours, the implication of a tall animal ... and that tongue ...

Yes I agree with Charles very nice series

Color is wonderful and faithful

Thank you  Stefan

Bateleur and Henry, thanks a lot for your nice comments.

I really like this thread very very much. The atmosphere, kindness and activity here is great, I never found it in the German Leica Forum. It is not always easy for me to follow the conversations because of my modest English, but I really appreciate it.

Sublime Ian, as are the other ones you posted. The colours are fantastic. Did you expose at box speed or pull?

Philip, with Portra 400 I use my meter at "box speed" but adjust, in my head, for a shutter speed/aperture combination that leans towards some (but not loads of) overexposure. In sunny conditions I often find myself using F11@1/500 as a baseline exposure for Portra.

Finally I am happy to shoot film for Sylvain and Etienne wedding

with my 2 M cameras, because both prefer pictures coming from film.

Both love my shots in comparison with those coming from Canon 5DII
