Doc Henry Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #35795  Posted July 9, 2017 (edited) Hi Chris, Glad you are back and safe https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/?p=3311329 Thank you for this good comment and well thought Yes, during these more than 1,700 pages, we have all demonstrated how the quality of an image, in every sense of the word, is important to all of us. Much , I know, continues to photograph in digital. Just see the numerous threads in digital on this forum that invade us , but that's how people like what is fast. I can tell you knowingly, since I , too went through the digital , seeing at the time of release of the M8 (in 2006) that digital will bring a revolution with these pixels that capture light and that transpose electrical circuits into photonic images The Leica world is amazed, then came the M9 ("vivid color" *) , after the Cmos sensor (M240 "neutral color" * as said Erwin Puts* ) ... and some continue to "rave" in front of images that begin to lose its soul, become flat, without consistency, without relief, with always have hypercurrent lines, hypernet  (reason : smoothing the square pixels by the software of the camera) ... in short nothing very aesthetic , when compared with the film images of our grandparents with his vintage side, soft, non aggressive when looking at  Finally we remained loyal to what our grandparents , and fortunately the film can said that he has dozens of years of evolution behind him , and has therefore proven. Me,Phil , having a very "critical mind" (it's the job that wants this) , I have not sold my two digital cameras, I keep them, to take occasional pictures, just to compare analog and digital especially when I see people who rave in front of images , with approximate color or unhomogeneous black , completely reconstituted from integrated circuits and electrical wires and finalized by a binary software of the camera and who tries somehow to get closer to the Image of the film ... but that does not arrive unfortunatelyFinally I repeat here, the impression or printing , is the ultimate happiness of being able to see what you have photographed and what pleasure also to be able to enlarge a portrait of its small son, with a skin that has pores visible as in the true , and which is greatly lacking in digital, not possible because of the pixels (smoothing) I end by wishing a long life to film which gives us pleasure to all, from the beginning that is to say the shooting , to printing on photo paper,  I say "printing" (deeply in the multilayers silver grain paper) and "non-ink deposit" on paper (case of the inkjet printer for digital) and needs for this work one computer !Thank you for reading and your patience Henry Edited July 9, 2017 by Doc Henry

A miller Posted July 9, 2017 Share #35797  Posted July 9, 2017 Henry - Both version of this plane scene are amazing.  Very well done!! Leica has released the M Monochrome with the M9. It's a good and intelligent idea The only camera brand that does this ! I know now why ... the "purity" in photography but you can have equivalent in film , if you shoot color with one camera and b&w in another camera  My feeling is , it has something "unique" inside the nuance and the details  Here's a proof black is real black and color is real color    The day of my departure of my last med.humanitarian mission in september 2016 taken at the same time, at sunset Danang airport   Kodak TMAX100-Leica MP-Summilux 50Asph   Image1danaairpkodtmaxlfht+++3-1000.jpg   Kodak Portra 160-Leica M7-35 Summilux Asph   Image4dnairpkp16m7lfht++++-3-1000.jpg  To prove the "purity" and "softness" of film , I also took this picture with digital camera M just for color comparison and ""softness" in the lines (no rasor cut lines)  Best Henry  Another stellar photo, Henry. Stone bridge and edge river in black   Paris 2016  Leica MP-Summicron 28 Asph-Kodak TX400   Image8bergdeseinkodtxmp28lfht+++1000.jpg  Best Henry  Breathtaking, Ian.
