christoph_d Posted June 27, 2017 Share #35181 Posted June 27, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not a great photo but it opened my eyes to the capabilities of the little lens in the Minox 35GT. The 100% crop is from a 2000dpi scan on my Coolscan 9000. Of course, I have processed the photo, which means using Adobe Camera Raw's various sliders and sharpening. Still I didn't expect to be able to almost read the text on the cockpit or whatever that thing is called on a crane. Rollei Retro 80S in Diafine Flickr 2017-114(616)-9k-ROL80S-35GT_6_sharpen_crop.jpg Not bad resolution at all. I remember that that little lens was very good, but I also think your film contributes here. Unfortunately, the shutter mechanism seems to be the achilles heel. When that fails it seems to be expensive to repair, a bit like the Minilux... Rgds C.

philipus Posted June 27, 2017 Share #35182 Posted June 27, 2017 Thank you Christoph. Yes the film definitely has something to do with it. The good thing with the Minoxes is that they're cheap as chips and plentiful so easy to replace if the shutter packs in. br philip Not bad resolution at all. honcho Posted June 27, 2017 Share #35184 Posted June 27, 2017 More than good enough for me - I will be adding a 160 CB to my Hasselblad armoury! Good choice, Keith. I hope you enjoy using it.
A miller Posted June 28, 2017 Share #35185 Posted June 28, 2017 Wow, Erl, this is spectacular. Love that lens! I have the 150/4 CF because I use the 203FE body. For it's length it is a very light lens. I think that long tube is full of air. It is a very manageable lens and I find the quality is fine. If you buy one, make sure it comes with a sun shade, or buy one separately. The dedicated Blad shade (expensive) is very good, unlike Leica shades that are merely decorative and meant to be compact(useless). A quick look through my archives has produced this image that I can remember using the lens on. Subject is a West Australian Flowing Gum, that is outside my house. Philip - This one is special. Really well executed. While in Helsingborg in 2014 I spent some time around the concert hall. These are from the street at the back of the building. mikemgb Posted June 28, 2017 Share #35188 Posted June 28, 2017 As promised, I shot a roll of over the date Ilford film to test this funny vintage Agfa Box camera. At the start, I was pretty sure the result would be zero picture. See by yourself. Far from perfection, but still astonishing pics by this old simple yet venerable camera. Film is Ilford FP4, - officially good until Feb 2003 ;-) ... and as I am terribly used to TriX 400, I develloped it in HC110 dilution 1:63 for 9 1/2 minutes by mistake. Agfa Box 1930s photo2017 terrasse..jpg I use Box Brownies from 1916 and 1932, the images I get from them have an amazing look, they are certainly not up to Summicron standards but they are surprisingly good considering how simple they are.

Sparkassenkunde Posted June 28, 2017 Share #35192 Posted June 28, 2017 Wonderful! Superb, James. Get the F$$k out of here, James. Are you kidding me?@?! That is insane! Wow. That's terrific. Well spotted (flowers almost always look better contre-jour IMO) and well taken. Thank you all for your supportive feedback - I'm glad you like my work This shot was the last on my roll and I waited almost an hour and tried to find the best view with an interesting arrangement of poppies and the last sunrays of the day. As the sun was settling, it was long time hidden beneath the clouds - so I was very happy, when it came out under the clouds to illuminate the scene as you can see it now. Just for this shot the use of the Cinestill 50D was worthwile.
Robclarke Posted June 28, 2017 Share #35193 Posted June 28, 2017 Hello Guys, I will be in London (near Mayfair) for a couple of days: it is a business trip, so I will not have much free time, but I would like to visit some good camera shop. Any suggestion? In particular, do you have any suggestion of any shop where I can buy film at a good price? Thank you in advance for your suggestions! regards, Massimo Mr Cad and Grays of Westminster (Nikon kit only) are fairly close. Aperture uk and red dot cameras are good for leica but are not particularly close. Also Leica store Mayfair Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
