Typical. Just when you go an fire the trigger, some bloke walks into the frame completely oblivious of his surroundings .............plonker :)

Solitude of one man in the middle of the forest

Nice picture Neil.

Second night in my home lab for print and what pleasure ,

really no comparison elsewhere

A great trip Neil , I am jealous

Go for S and SL , but your color is not true and not natural , without PP

and conversion color in b&w is not satisfying :)

Best

Henry

Henry I find the colors right out of the camera of the S007 are just about perfect and the conversation of the S to B$W is IMHO. better than the MM files........ and I had a MM.

Better than 8x10........ no statement yet :)

If you divert across to Lake Wakatipu, you can venture out on the SS Earnslaw, which I captained as a young fella, back in 1966 (Kodak Retina IIIC - Film unknown)...

Thanks, Philip. She was standing at a pedestrian crossing, and I liked the way her face was masked by her hair. The negative looks much better than this web image - I might try lightening it up to show the hair detail.

Here's a version lightened up for the interwebby. The negative looks better than this, but at least the lighter version shows the hair detail that Tri-X captures (particularly the loose strands on top of her head)...

Love that lens! I have the 150/4 CF because I use the 203FE body.

For it's length it is a very light lens. I think that long tube is full of air. :p

It is a very manageable lens and I find the quality is fine. If you buy one, make sure it comes with a sun shade, or buy one separately.

The dedicated Blad shade (expensive) is very good, unlike Leica shades that are merely decorative and meant to be compact(useless).

A quick look through my archives has produced this image that I can remember using the lens on.

Subject is a West Australian Flowing Gum, that is outside my house.

This is quite staggering, Erl. The colour is exactly as the real thing, and nice depth of field incorporated.

A couple of night-time shots taken in Barcelona:

Both taken with the M7 and ZM 1,5/50 (for nice glowy lights) using Delta 3200 rated at EI1600 and over-developed one stop in ID-11 (D76) stock.

Although I struggle with the digital M bodies, I love shooting with the M7...

Nice work, Mark. I like the lighting that appears in old cities at night - Well done.

Neil , sincerily if you like edge and lines hypernet (rasor line) and color approximate ,  go for digital !  :)

You are the only judge !

I post again this picture in this thread this time :

in comparison with this one :

Have you seen how , this flower is in the nature ?

... except the color and the place I take this picture not similar , this edge hypersharp

in the picture with link above , is  without appeal when you compare  !

and the scanner gives a little digital side to the picture , but in print , it's still different

lines are "softer"  !

Best

My favorite MF portrait lens.

You can't go wrong with the 150mm sonnar.   It's always cheaper than the 180mm because internet forum 'wisdom' says the 150mm is lacking something against the 180mm by comparison.  I have more than a strong suspicion that most of those who spout that opinion wouldn't be able to tell any worthwhile difference between them. It's a nice portriat lens and more than holds it's own.

Go for a C if your want the cheapest or a CF for the best performance for a relative bargain, unless you want to spend a lot more on a CFI.

Thanks for the responses chaps (striking colours, Erl)  One important point of concern for me is weight & the 150mm CF (Sonnar) weighs in at >800g, which is 100g or so heavier than my 60mm Distagon.  Knowing the effects of lugging the 500C + Distagon around for an hour or so has prompted me to consider the 160mm CB (650g). Yes I know it is only f4.8 compared to the 150mm's f4 but I'm prepared to trade half a stop for a 150g weight-saving (I know, what a wimp!).  Any views on optical qualities of the 160mm CB (Tessar)?
