Many thanks, Philip, Charles, Christoph and Gary.

Really appreciate your feedback. It helps me further refine the presentation of the image.

Christoph - i used a 3 stop medium grad (i dont use PS) on this one as i wanted to go for a dramatic "gotham" look. I tweaked the gradation of the clouds (as well as a few other minor tweaks suggested by Jean-Marc offline) on the top slightly in the latest version, which is attached. Thanks again!

C'mon Adam, the suspense is killing me. I want to see no. 5! :D

Hi Adam,

The picture is impressive, the grey sky is really impressive, perhaps even too dark grey for my liking: I keep wondering if the grad filter isn't overdone here (if you used one), or if photoshop played its part ...

Rgds

Christoph

This one is simply gorgeous, there is a lot going on, but there is a simple harmony the belies the business.

Lovely series and I understand your enthusiasm Adam.

I love the almost monochromatic look at the top and bottom, with the subtle colour band in the mid-section.

When I scrolled down I first saw the sky and thought, "another Tri-X shot", until I got to the colour.

Very nice.

Gary

The trials and tribulation continue............but its fun (not all of the time but its fun.

Yesterday I went and shot two flowers. I saw them while riding my mountain bike around FRIM (Environmental park in KL). The first actually looked like a kids toy in a tree. so when I went to investigate I realised it was actually a flower. So I went back to my car and put my bike on the bike rack on top of my car and took the Chamonix to go and get the picture. I had a nice gentleman come and join me and we got chatting about WTF I was doing and talked about this and that. He also had a Leica M something in his house. Anyway's I proceeded to take the picture which ended up like this;

After lunch I dropped my wife off at the shopping mall while I went into town to shoot the old train station. KL is a nightmare to park anywhere so I just went to the Majestic hotel and paid the exorberamnt $2.50 parking fee and walked to the train station. after looking for a spot to shoot a couple of railway police (photographer haters) approached me and said no photos, Im like WTFIWT, so I argued the case that I was only taking pictures and the woman got real snotty and said no pictures.

So being a gentleman, I went back to the car, paid the parking ticket and called the old lady. Told her we were going back to shoot the flower on the tree.

So I picked my wife up and we drove over to FRIM, my wife being asian didn't want to join me on the photo shoot as it was hot outside, but as I left with ,my camera gear she said "don't forget the ISO" (Bless Her).

I arrive art the tree and to my surprise the flower was still there (half expected it to be either in a pot of soup or on someones manta piece)

I set everything up and remembered the ISO. I took two pictures, the first at f64 and the second at f32. I then started to dismantle the camera when to my horror I noticed that the aperture was still wide open for framing and focusing. So I am now thinking "f@ck" did I forget to set the aperture. Anyway I figured I had better get everything set up again and take the picture again. While setting up this time I must have pissed off a swarm of red ants as within 30 seconds I had hundreds of the little red bastards all over me taking a piece out of me. I manage to fight them off and get the picture with all the camera settings correct. When I got back to the car my wife asked me if I remembered the ISO, so I blasted her with why didn't she remind me of the aperture and give me insect repellent, she burst out laughing and said Som Nam Na which in English means "serves your own right".

Well after devouring the first two negs that were grossly over exposed, below

I developed the last film and that one has the same frigging light leak.........

So after bastardising this neg in PS I ended up with this.

And here is me getting that picture......still smiling

All in all a good day out.

Neil - such a pity because i think the first you posted was your best shot if it hadnt been for that fcking light leak. Your wife should have told you to temember the iso and also avoid the fcking light leak :). Meanwhile with those colors and light i am sitting here saying wtf happened to the velvia 50????

I really enjoy reading about your photographic efforts, Neil. And light leak or not you get results ranging from interesting to great, imho.

A few grittier contrail compositions. I didn't plan for the sky to look like this but messed up exposure so I had to edit them in post. Actually, I often struggle with scanning photos with a lot of sky shot on C41 or b&w. Especially those on C41 tend to be much more grainy than I like.

Greetings from balmy Canary Wharf, looking forward to a quick one night stand here.

Here is The last of the June 8 NYC sunset series (5/5)

Another 6 min exposure, with the Ektar holding up pretty well, as well as the resolving power of the zeiss biogon lens on the swc

Last rays of sunshine, coming from behind lily, created impression that yellow center was electrified. Sort of a contre jour, but through a flower....I guess.
