Doc Henry Posted June 8, 2017 Author Share #34021 Posted June 8, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hesitate to post this in light of the recent terrible events in the UK, because what happened in Stockholm on the spot where all the post-its have been put up was much less severe. But regardless of where terror hits, perhaps it is as the sign in the second photo says that everything will be all right. It reminds me of what is often repeated on the (fantastic) Kermode and Mayo radio show that "everything will be all right in the end. And if it is not all right then it is not the end". }{B Posted June 8, 2017 Share #34024 Posted June 8, 2017 kodachrome64.jpg Kodachrome 64 (July 1987) It was 30 years ago but at a guess I'd say a Pentax SuperA and possibly a 135mm Chinon.

I guess Kodachrome did deserve to be the subject of a Paul Simon song. Thanks, Wayne Edited June 8, 2017 by Wayne

Doc Henry Posted June 8, 2017 Author Share #34027 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have SLR Leicaflex SL (like Gary) date 1969 with the Summicron also purchased in the same time in 1969 and still work (already 48 years) I think that Leica has manufactured one of the best SLR in Leica history. (all speeds are mechanical) I know that Leica has abandoned the production and you also know that at this time , many another SLR brands have also SLR cameras. The M is still produced and Leica would like to have this clientele ! Leicaflex SL-Summicron 50-Kodak Portra 160 Welcome, dear visitor! Wayne Posted June 8, 2017 Share #34028 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) At the time, I was not paying much attention to such things; but, why did Kodak remove Kodachrome from the market? Was it, generally, related to the demise of film? It is just my opinion, but, so often when I see an older image made with Kodachrome, it occurs to me that the quality of the film is such that other factors, i.e. lens, seem to be of much less cosequence. It is just my opinion, but, so often when I see an older image made with Kodachrome, it occurs to me that the quality of the film is such that other factors, i.e. lens, seem to be of much less cosequence. There has been talk of environmental regulations, etc. sounding the death knell for Kodachrome but I think it was more of an economic decision and a lack of will on the part of Kodak's management. It was already down to a single lab in Kansas (Dwaynes?) for the entire world market by the time it was axed. Part of the problem was that many of us bewailed its loss but few of us were actually using the film in the run-up to it being discontinued. I have no doubt that, in the present market (with a more favourable mood surrounding film), Kodak Alaris would have held on to the film as a flagship product, even if it wasn't a huge money earner. Sadly, it died too soon. Edited June 8, 2017 by wattsy

philipus Posted June 8, 2017 Share #34032 Posted June 8, 2017 I think this is true as well. Let's buy heaps of Ektachrome once launched and hope that it helps Kodak bring back Kodachrome too. Though it is unlikely, I admit, we do get the pleasure of shooting Ektachrome, which is a great film. wattsy Posted June 8, 2017 Share #34037 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) Green Hairstreak again. I've done roughly a "DX"-ish crop with this one, something I wouldn't normally do but these butterflies are tiny and the Macro Elmar-M can only do 1:3. (You can gauge how small this butterfly is if you know how big a hawthorn leaf is). Edited June 8, 2017 by wattsy

I've done roughly a "DX"-ish crop with this one, something I wouldn't normally do but these butterflies are tiny and the Macro Elmar-M can only do 1:3. The green of butterfly and leaves , the details of the butterfly wings and the color with its palette of green are "magnifique" Ian , you focus at what meter with your Macro Elmar for this picture ? 0.70 m ?
