A rare giraffe in Grand Central Terminal, NYC

M3, 35 lux fle, Delta 400

Great to see you progressing into wildlife photography, Adam. Giraffes-in-Flight is a very demanding field, particularly in metropolitan environments.

Here's one from the archives while I see if my scanner can be brought back to life (I've followed up the kind suggestions here, rung Nikon Ginza, talked to Orlando at the Camera Clinic - my last hope is to get a flap/door 3D printed if that is even possible).

My goal with this negative was to explore how far I could lighten (from a slightly underexposed negative) the foggy, opalescent light and yet still retain the mood of that evening:

Lake Trasimeno, Italy, 1988

Canon A1, FDn 70-210, FP4

This is beautiful, Phil. For some reason it reminds me of the David Bowie Scary Monsters video.

I posted this shot earlier in the thread

But just found one looking up at the intricate carving to the roof timbers, M4P, and new to me 21mmF4 Color Skopar this lens is going to spend a lot of time on my M4-2 or M4P

Excellent, Gary. The texture comes across really well, particularly given the indoor lighting.

I do have the impression that pics You post are better and better all along this wonderful thread. Something a little bit different today: in 1969, my dad offered me his Voigtländer Bessa from 1948.

Four days ago, I had a walk with it and shot some pics . I used a HP5 Film  and develloped it in Ilfotec HC. I scanned the photo on Baryte Paper.

Lovely tonality Ratz, what was the developer?

Loaded question, as I am on a Tri-X quest soon, and my last foray using R09 left a little to be desired with the 35mm Tri-X.

Gary

Hi, Gary. My best Tri-X / R09 results have been with shooting at ISO 200, and developing 1:50 for 9-1/2 minutes.

I thought this was interesting, this is on an old roll of Portra 400 VC which expired in 2010 and which hasn't been stored properly since then. Not too shabby.

Edit: Shot at EI100

80 Planar+extension rings

Stunning, Philip!

Wayne - A one-hump Llama.  I like the sound of it.  Only in New York :)

"Thanks, Gentlemen.  I am torn between a giraffe and a camel on this one, I must say.  Christoph is right, though.  It is a total zoo here no matter what. :) LOL"

It is obviously a llama. :)

Good one, Gary.

Gunwalloe, Dollar Cove, where silver dollars have been found from the ship wreck of the San Salvador in 1669, it was said to be carrying 2 tons of silver dollars

Ha, ha, Eoin.  I think I might consider specializing in this field of urban wildlife :)

Well I'm honoured to be thought of in the same breath as David Bowie. I must watch that video again. I remember liking it very much at the time. Thanks a lot, Eoin.

Phil wonderful picture with dynamic effect and at the right moment à la manière de Henri Cartier Bresson

Thanks for posting

Henry

Thank you Henry! I guess I was 22 at the time and reading everything photography-related I could get my hands on. HC-B was (and is still) at the very top of the mountain for me. Thank you so much Henry.

When there is a deeply personal connection like this, even "just' with gear, the photograph seems to have more intrinsic value. This is superb, Jean-Marie.

If you decide you have buyer's remorse, and want to ship it to Australia...

Am also loving the photograph "Just a Hoosier princess" - hanging with Dad and his mates, just growing into the woman she'll become. Priceless.
