While I was in America this past couple of weeks I took one camera, one lens and nine rolls of one film stock. My purpose of the trip, which I booked the evening before I flew out at 9:30am the next day, was totally unrelated to photography. The presence of my camera enabled me to get some space and unwind my mind from the pressing issues I found myself dealing with. It helped more than I could have anticipated. I intend writhing an essay about it to post on my website.

 

Anyway, enough talk, here is a picture:

M6TTL, 35mm Summicron, Tri-X

Proves my thought that you could easily live with one camera and lens I reckon. Sort of have to with the SWC.

Gong to adopt this one/one approach with the MP, either lock the spares away or sell them off.

Gary , yes for one camera if you like only (in example) b&w or color

I notice that during the conversion of color in b&w in film (by crop)

and the same notice for digital , you lose details and definition.

Better you stay in color in digital. The conversion color >b&w is

approximative way ! not ideal if you're a purist :)

 

For my next trip or mission , I'll take M7 for color and MP my M monochrome

the 2 SLR as back up. Lens 35, 28mm and a MacroElmar 90 ... may be also

the 50.

 

For the shot of Phil , nice definition,contrast and grain.

My first roll of film in 6 years. These are scans from the lab. I am waiting to receive my Epson V600 so that i can scan the film from another lab that developed my M3 film, because their scans were terrible. Should be able to get better detail on these pictures as well. 

Of coarse i don't want to saturate all of you with an entire roll of film lol. 

So heres maybe 3 or 4 that i like.

All these take with Canon AE-1, 50mm f1.4, Ilford HP5.

Wayne , in these pictures , I like specially the grain of this film , a little blurry 

and the "soft" aspect of black and grey.The Iris is very nice like a b&w charcoal

I really like the second one (fourth in the series). The detail in the shadows in the foreground is what HP5 does particularly well.

 

Thank you Doug. You're right Ilford HP5 is a good b&w film !

Thank you for your kind comments Gary, Henry and Charles. Charles I will certainly point you all to my essay - I just have to write it first! BTW your portrait of Amber is really lovely, and a great choice of location. The 150mm Sonnar for the Hasselblad is a very special lens.

 

In the meantime this is another picture from the trip. The contrast range here was quite extreme:

I know that stuff, it's the stuff you exported to our fair land many years ago, and we've spent the rest of the time trying to eradicate it. GORSE. :D

 

 

Must have come with the rats.  :D  I rather like Gorse personally as it can flower at almost any time of the year and can provide a bit of colour during the bleaker winter months. 

 

Some more gorse: this time looking east along the South Dorset Ridgeway above Abbotsbury. Portra 400 and 28 Summaron.

When I travel and have no particular photographic subjects in mind I take just one camera and one lens - usually the IIIg and 50/2.8 Elmar or IIIf with SBOOI and 50/1.4 Canon LTM.

I like these tuk tuk ,we are sitting behind, we see the back of the driver
and he is also our air bag . In Laos you have same tuk tuk :)
