Doc Henry Posted April 24, 2017 Author Share #31219 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) You used the MP, and the R4S concurrently Henry? Usually it is MP/M7 or SL/R4S. Gary Yes Gary as back up , unfortunately a roll of Kodak Portra in the M7 isn't impressed and I forget to verify a rewind knob this time.... fortunately I have a Leicaflex SL as back up and I have some color pictures. As I said you above , I'll keep SLR as back up and for macro picture with Elpro or extender tube. MP and M7 remain my principal cameras for trips because they are lighter and discreet no shooting in digital except some pictures I take to compare color analog versus digital Leica M7-Kodak Portra 400-28 Summicron Asph Chenonceau Castle Castles of Loire Valley 2015 Welcome, dear visitor! erl Posted April 24, 2017 Share #31220 Posted April 24, 2017 Hi Henry, No, never been ballooning, too scared, high up, no engine, no control, too scary. Flew past this balloon a while back though, looked nice out over the lake area. Gary Henry, you would be blown away by the experience. Pun intended. Not too long ago ( a couple of years) I did a balloon flight in Capadocia (Turkey). It was stunning! The control, contrary to your fears was amazing. The pilot took us down over a vineyard so we could pick grapes as we hovered over the vines. He truly could fly into the wind, rotate the balloon so people on the opposite side of the basket could see features on the ground. Finally, he landed the basket exactly on the support trailer such that the ground crew had no adjusting to do for retrieval. In a word , Brilliant flying. He was ex Turkish army helicopter pilot, but looked like the local goatherd. Moral: Never judge on appearances! Footnote: I would post some of the wonderful images I got on that flight, but they are all digital. (Wash my mouth out!)
