The date stamp is user optional though, correct? You can turn it off/on?

Maybe not up to Leica standards, but I'd suggest unless you stipulated which camera, most viewing here would not be able to tell, nor (Me especially) I suspect would they care.

Thanks, Gary.  I think you might be right but I haven't figured it out yet.  When randomly posted you might be right but I can tell you that there is in fact a HUGE difference in quality.  I will make my case in due course.  It is funny that people who discuss these pocket compact on the web discuss the relative difference in sharpness of the lens.  But I think that a lot of the end result sharpness has to do with the accuracy of the AF.  Many of these little cameras don't do it with laser precision and so you end up with less than tack sharp images that one may think is due to the lens but when in fact it's the inaccuracy of the AF.

Gary - this is Leica (28mm elmarit pre asph).   Not spot on focused, but a good guess and plenty good enough  ;)

And it looks absolutely sharp, but I gotta be honest, for viewing here both look great.

And the long exposure flash shot with the Nikon is never going to be (or need to be) sharp anyway.

Perfect flash/blizzard cam, no wipes needed.

Thank you Philip for watching :)

Gary the Leica MP supports more and more contre-jour , I push the camera directly on light

this time.

Look at this picture , a very "hard" light ... and camera still works and "incase" well   :)

Gary you'll see , it's a perfect camera , very light .... :) in comparison with a Panzer Leicaflex

a good choice with the 50 :)

All details are still visible , my M9 is KO for this kind of picture all is black in the shadows

Bravo for the film !

.... more cherry blossom , in backlit (contre-jour)  ... and also for Ian :)

Interesting, Phil.  I have been taunted by this camera and couldn't bring myself to make an investment in a "system" like this.  People do seem to like it, however.

Thanks Adam. It's a wonderful system, for sure. In my experience I have found that many people try it, then sell it, and many of them regret selling it. I don't regret selling stuff ever - otherwise, why would I sell it? Sometimes I do buy the same thing again later, but not out of regret. But I won't be buying the Contax stuff again. You might find just a G2 body and the 28mm f2.8 lens could suit you for the work you do, along with the nice little TLA 200 flash. Sync speed of 1/160th from memory. This is one of mine with just that combo:

The definition of film and specially Kodak TMax400 is outstanding with soft

lines , not sharp as a razor , no agressivity for eyes !

Crop 100%

Time for a bee pic for Henry then.

I actually took this on both film, and digital. I posted the digital version in the X-Vario thread.

No doubt I looked a right clown, sprawled out on the evening paddock grass, with the camera(s) atop of the small Leica table-tripod.
