Crikey, and they say that it (luck/bad luck) come in three's, what's next???

You'll find a nice Rollei, hang in there.

Gary

Thanks Gary, and thanks for the link stray cat.

I woke up this morning to find my fridge/freezer has packed it in!

In brighter news another Rolleiflex is heading my way, fingers (and toes) crossed!

Lovely shots both JM, those eyes in the second one, beautiful!

Is it one of the original Rolleiwides? A Distagon? A fun camera I'm sure.

I forgot to respond to stray cat noting the 1 June date when every single import to Australia, however small, will be hit with a 10% tax.

What a disaster. I can't imagine how they'll attempt to process every single item, Australia loves bureaucracy.

What a backwards proposition for a country geographically far from anywhere with no real manufacturing industry.

- Got that off my chest!

Sublime colors, Steve.  I dig it.

Cherry red  alpenglow on The Screes, Wasdale.

You can't guarantee it, but when it does happen, it's an impressive sight.  A bit of effort to get up the hill well away from other photographers down below who can't walk more than two metres from their cars is worthwhile, but you need to be in place in good time.  As the sun goes down,  the ridge behind you casts a shadow across The Screes and progressively obliterates the glow.  When that happens, it's time to swing your camera around to the left and point it towards the big hills around Wasdale Head, which will stay cherry red until the sun sinks lower and a shadow from Kirk Fell is cast across Great Gable.  Yewbarrow will also be in shadow by now and the effect is gone until conditions are right for another time.

Expect a few fruitless trips, but all will turn out well eventually if you're persistent.

Love it, Harold.  I'm a simple guy and that woman has a simply gaze-provoking look.  Great one.

Absolutely love this one, Richard.  Great colors and the arresting composition.   I'd print this one.

Thanks Coogee . Nice shot of yours !

Yes , the lens of this 1961 Rolleiwide is a Distagon 55 f4 . Have fun with your new Rolleiflex !

Best of luck with the backwards new import regulations...

10% is still way lower than in quite a few other countries including France (20%) and Brazil (60%)...

Thanks JM, I love jungle and junk becoming as one. The 1961 Distagon isn't showing its age in the least.

And I clearly never knew I had it good compared to Brazillians. 60% :(

And thank you Adam, maybe I will print. This was a happy place/time/memory for me and the Fuji film has done a great job.

Another awesome snowbound surprise, you even lucked in with the word REACTION at the bottom of your frame there.

These will all make for a really superb series when they sit together as one. Fantastic stuff.

These two are great, in particular the second one. And wonderfully scanned too. I often encounter trouble scanning photos with large sky areas shot on colour negative film in the 135 format. They are very often excessively grainy. These look fantastic.

Thanks Gary, and thanks for the link stray cat.

Speaking of colour, I played around with macro a few weeks ago. The slices of cucumber and lemon were on my LED light table with the camera on a tripod. I used Provia 400X and then, queue bizarro colours!

All shots have this really weird tint, evidently because of the light table's colour temp. Looks quite cool in a way but not what I was going for and, worse, my normal lazy colour correction routine in Adobe Camera Raw didn't even get me close to normal colour so I gave up on the photos.

Then having a bit of time on my hands one evening and nothing better to do I thought I'd give it a second go.

Turns out using the Lab colour space and a Curves layer was a good way forward, if time-consuming. I've always enjoyed that colour space (sounds like an odd thing to say) and in particular how the opposing colours green-magenta and blue-yellow work. It makes for surprisingly easy and quick corrections (usually).

A problem with this particular photo was that a cucumber should look green and the lemon should look yellow, and that the light table ought to look bright white. But adjusting the curves in the a and b channels to correct the green would cause a cast in the yellows and the light table and vice-versa. The solution to this was to try to arrive at an acceptable colour using Curves and then open the image in ACR and adjust the individual colours under the HSL/Greyscale tab.

It's still far from perfect or even good, and I doubt it could get better (but feel free to have a go if you like). In particular the cucumber isn't as green as it should be and the light table looks oddly off-white. I should have used another film, probably a colour negative. Anyway, to make a long story short, below is the corrected version.

Philip , the second picture is fine for me , not easy to correct because you use a light table

with artificial light. May be with natural sunny light , you'll have nicer color and definition  :)

Best
