Maybe this belongs in the R forum; but, as you are all film shooters, and this question pertains only to use of the lenses in question as film lenses..........and I trust your judgement:

If you owned both an R50mm Summicron and an R60mm Macro-Elmarit, and some horrible financial news required you give one of them up, which one would go out the door to a new owner? I own an R5 and a 90mm. I need something shorter.

There is actually a thread in the R section on this very subject.

I have the 50 Summicron R, it "goes" with the old SL.

Perhaps look at getting the 35/2 instead, so just have 35 and 90?

Schön nebelig Joachim, aber ob es nebelig genug war für den Heinrich weiß ich nicht. Gut gemacht!

Nice and foggy Joachim, but was it foggy enough for Henry? I don't know. Great shot though.

Hallo Christopher,

(Mein Englisch ist das Grauen)

Thank you for your kind remarks. I don't know, if it's foggy enough for King Henry of Fog, but we have lost the foggy days in winter. When I was a pupil, very often you couldn't see the other side of the Rhine. But now it is a rather rare beast and I've got little time to catch it.

Hallo Joachim

Your English is excellent- you have nothing to worry about at all. Where on the Rhine are you?

My mother is from Fulda, it's my second home and I studied for a time in Siegen.

Hooray, one more Philippe/Phil/Philip in the thread :)

Sure, just PM me sometime.  I work at home.  I had the pleasure of briefly meeting @stuny once, from this forum.

Philippe aka lamefrog

Great shot Joachim, very atmospheric. It looks familiar, Kennedy Brücke?

Here are two bridges which connect the island of Lidingö, viewed in the distance on the second one, with mainland Stockholm. The first shot was taken where the ferry to the islands comes in, it stops at the yellow mark. The second one also shows the old steel bridge, built in 1925 (Provia 400X and the 80 Planar, as usual).

Good strong shapes and lighting making really good composition. Very good! I like the contrasting bridges too. They tell a story of their own.

Kind regards

I spent late Saturday afternoon talking to some swans at Fendrod lake in Swansea. It was an interesting conversation about this Leica R9 and 28-70 zoom and me using flash to photograph them. We weren't interested in the Honda car showroom opposite. It was quite interesting to see how close we became.

Then they noticed me ...

Came over...

And had a little chat....

It was all very polite before bidding each other, "Good evening".

I like the snow shots Adam, very dramatic.

How do people react? Do you get a bit of a New York spray? Or no reaction? Or difficult to know as you are running hard in the other direction? :)

Very original style of shooting swans with flash.  I'll have to try that! (once I find some spare swans   )

Ha, ha, thanks!!

I get a wide range of reactions, but heavily weighted towards the indifferent and jovial.  People are, after all, literally just trying to see in front of them and are focused on getting to where they need to be.   On the occasions where people seemed to potentially mind, a loud "newspaper" shout with a smile usually sufficed.  Then there were a select few who just didn't get the joke.  Oh, and one stand down that (lucky for him) ended uneventfully.
