In preparation for some indoor velodrome shooting in a couple of weeks, did some bracketed tests with Tri-X and TMax 400 shooting at 1600, and then developing at 1600 and 3200 in R09.

This is TMax 400 (despite what it says on the little note) metered @ 1600 and developed @ 1600...

I like the grain, it doesn't seems to be pushed at 1600.

Did you develop it in stand? Can you please share some more detail? Thanks

Massimo

Hi Doc,

Here are a couple more photos from the same trip also on Ektar 100.

I hope they're not duplicated on this thread.

Massimo,

That "job is taking too much time" and "shooting less" is a familiar phenomenon.

But it is a pity and our loss...  :(

Hi, Christoph, Henry, and Massimo.

No apologies for digital paraphenalia sitting on my benchtop.

Bracketing (based on incident reading) to +/- 2 stops, the 0 compensation shot looked best, retaining the shadow detail on the TS-E 24's focusing ring (which wasn't the focus point). I developed in R09 at 1:25 for 11minutes.

Here are the results for exposing at 1600 w/ 0, -1, and -2 stops compensation, developed as 3200 (R09 at 1:25 for 17minutes):

From what I see, at -1 stop, it's still carrying plenty of detail. At -2 (depending upon subject), it's missing distinction in the shadows, but still usable.

Thank you Ramesh. One can still find Provia 400X in some shops, also fresh, but it is getting rare.

Wonderful tones. A regret in my life - not shooting enough with Provia 400X and Agfa Scala...

Oh...the 24 TS-E!

Great test Eoin.

I want to add something important about this picture of Massimo . For some who are accustomed

to digital it is may be imperfect , personally i like what is imperfect !

Am I normal ? I do not know , you have to tell me !

Or maybe I'm not used or more at all accustomed to seeing a portrait, where the edges are

sharp , where it is no longer "incisive" or "cutting" lines , with no visible pores of skin.

This photo is the art, and there is only the grains of film that can give this artistic impression.

Sorry to contradict .

Massimo , you must print, framed and hung on the wall this picture.

Have a nice Week End  All of you

Best

Henry
