Very good, Russell. I'll be heading down to the Australian National Track Champ's later this month, with film and digital cameras in tow. It's a pity that velodromes are always so dark, but I love shooting track.

With my R4S Leica and on moutain bike at minus 7°C , I shot some pictures

last week on the theme "variation on ice,light and reflection"

I don't shoot in digital because not sure I obtain all details in the shadows when

it's in contre jour like here .

I took 4 pictures and all are a success , no under-exposed

Film is really great for this kind of shot better dynamic , that I dare not do it in digital !

I am surprised by the result

As for Israel, I am planning to spend this summer there again and make the best tour guide... :)

 

Well, maybe not this summer, but duly noted for the future. I have a friend from there who says they have the best food in the world there too. Of course he may be a bit biased :rolleyes: , but another aspect I'd certainly like to explore.

I fought off not only the schmootz on the Cinestill 50 but also a light leak from forgetting to rewind.

But what the hell I think they came out quite lovely...

These are lovely Wayne, especially the Illinois one - they remind me a lot of the old GAF 500 film look, so well used by Sarah Moon (eg http://agonistica.com/pirelli-calendar-by-sarah-moon-1972/) and Deborah Turbeville (https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/fashion-blog/2013/oct/31/photography-deborah-turbeville-fashion) back in the day.

Thanks, I had no idea what I was getting into with the film. ADOX calls it "limited" production and says little, other than "unpredictable." Oddly enough, it seems grain increases with available light. But, the strangest part of the film is the fact that when you extract the film from the process tank, it comes out looking like a strip of light blue colored vinyl on one side, and brown vinyl on the other. It then dries to transparency. Honestly, I thought I had screwed up processing.

Sincere thanks Adam. Of course we should and must relish the opportunities we have to always move onwards and upwards, however it is also valuable to remember the things that were. And here I'm not just referring to the way we once lived (say in this example) 37 years ago but also to the way the material we had to hand transformed the life we were living into some tangible memoir of those moments in their own often idiosyncratic ways. In 37 years from now of course those memories from today will be mainly on the (undoubtedly by then) fondly remembered digital files we may retain but I do wonder if those files will evoke such fondly felt and visceral memories as our old Kodachromes/Agfachromes/Velvias do today. I'm pretty sure I won't be around to find out, but I hope my children will. And I hope that the negatives and transparencies from today will provide a similar visceral experience to those who follow for many many years too.

You said what I say during and throughout these 1384 pages of this thread !

The digital does not have enough recoil and we do not know what happens in 45 years

especially when computers change, softwares change

For my Nikon scanner, I had a hard time keeping Nikon software .

Also I have a personal computer that I keep for scanning

I do not want Vuescan or Silverfast SF (SF experience with my Epson V700)
