Thank you very much for all your kind words. You've made my day :)

br

Philip

There is lots to like about this photograph my eye travels along the shadow threading across and up the tree, only pausing at the figure before continuing in the lovely light before accepting the dominance of the sun.

Thank you for my journey, Philip.

Very nice, Doc. I am becoming a vinyl junkie lately. I have a 1970s Dual and I recently acquired and 1960s Empire that I plan to restore, even though it's in very good shape already. I have compared a few artists I have on both CD and vinyl. Vinyl wins to my ears.

A great track to test the sound of your system is Dire Straits Brothers in Arms side 2 first track, Ride across the river, I have just bought some wonderful headphones made by Bower & Wilkins they get rave reviews

Is it Kodak TX ?

Thanks for posting

Yes, Kodak TX.

I have generally been neglectful keeping track of what film I use. I have settled down a bit on what I stock up now. It's between T Max, Tri X and HP5 mostly. With a view to keep things simple, I think I'll stick to just black and white. But then when I travel far away from home and find I'm running low, I tend to buy whatever's available. This usually ends up being colour film, consumer grade stuff normally sold as packs of 3 rolls-in-one 24 exp. each.

I have a 5 month long road-rail-boat-and-whatever trip to South-East Asia coming up in under 3 weeks and I'm in a turmoil about what camera:lens to take...two bodies and two lenses or one body and two lenses? ... a 28 and a 50 possibly. Start with a stock of, say, 40 rolls of film with a view to pick up as I go... Keep it simple and mechanical with minimum dependence on batteries... Travel light...

Suede during my last 2 weeks humanitarian mission in SE Asia I brought 50 rolls of Kodak TMax100,TMax400, Kodak Portra 160, 400 and Ektar100.No Ilford !  Finally I only use 25 rolls.  For cameras, Suede take a 28 for landscape or street photos , if you want to be light , if not , bring both of your cam.

I have 2 analog cameras (M7+35 mm and MP+50mm) one for color (M7) and one for b&w (MP).  If I find interesting to take a pagoda or flowers with nice color ,  I take my M7.  At bad light condition , sunrise or sunset I prefer b&w 400 Isos or sometimes M7 with a monopod. For another lens I had also 135 and 90 with me.

Suede, in addition , I advise you to put your films in bags against the penetration of the X-Ray portal airports security and not to put in hold of airplane. All my films came back safe .I put them in a shoulder bag with my medical equipment.

Standing in the lovely St John Baptist parish church in Cirencester yesterday afternoon, my eye was caught by the way what little light there was reflected off an open prayer book. In the background was a small Nativity display. Hasselblad 500C, 60mm Distagon f3.5, Tri-X rated at ISO 320, no tripod or monopod.  Meter reading of 1/15th sec, nowhere to rest the camera. To try and take a picture would be ridiculous, wouldn't it?!  Well...

PS - more Cirencester scenes to follow. I had to be there yesterday - had I gone today instead I would have had bright & sunny weather instead of dull, grey and miserable! Ah, well.

There is an unusual effervescence in digital section with arrival of M10.
I am happy for Leica that there are still digital enthusiasts who participate in this limitless race of cameras every 2 to 3 years. Moreover before the announcement , the section sales second hand of our french forum Leica has exploded and prices are almost sold off !
What a shame when I think the new camera is going to be also quickly obsolete. It reminds me of 2010 with the arrival of the M9 after the M8 and I was among these people !

Now I am relieved and if I have money I'll buy the M-A this year and I'll keep it !

I like this one a lot Henry. The light is absolutely beautiful and the line of boats draws the eye in towards the fisherman and then to the mountains dissolving in the background.

A terrific portrait, very pleasant. I can see that something's on his mind. This photo also shows very well how sharp a film image can be in spite of fairly prominent grain.

Met Klaus at his atelier some days before his exhibition

He was testing a installation with a lot of moving parts so he was a little nervous

Ask him for a quick portrait at his open door
