Doc Henry Posted November 23, 2016 Author Share #24133 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) I realize that I did not thank everyone and some of you like Mike and others for your moral support for my family. You will forgive me and I again send you a big thank you ! The news today is not good and it may be necessary that I go down again in the south. williamgm Posted November 23, 2016 Share #24135 Posted November 23, 2016 One from the covered market in Aleppo, Syria in (much) happier times......I was travelling on a commission to cover Lebanon, Syria & Jordan during one of the (relatively) peaceful times in that region. I carried both 35mm Nikon and 6x6cm Hasselblad cameras for the work - this is one of the 35mm Velvia images, scanned on an Imacon scanner. Fascinating and sometimes slightly worrying trip, but the people were mostly friendly and helpful. Welcome, dear visitor! I recognize "soap of Alepo" at left and right a very good soap , welknown in the world. It's a pity that's in war now ! williamgm Posted November 23, 2016 Share #24137 Posted November 23, 2016 Thank you Henry, Actually, I did post a picture from Baalbek, Lebanon much earlier in the thread (on the same journey), so this is the second image! As you say, the situation in Syria is very sad, we often think about the many kind people we met there and wonder what has happened to them. You are right, the soap is very good - we still have some. Looking through my film images from this trip and many others around the world, I'm seriously thinking of buying a film camera again to do some film work, although when i was working professionally the film and processing costs were covered, and I did my own B&W work in my darkroom. Sadly, all film equipment, cameras and darkroom, were sold a long time ago, and the Imacon scanner was on loan via the Hasselblad rep for two very long 'weekends'......!

William I kept all my analog equipment (camera, scanner and enlarger) and has worked with 2 digital M (hospital and leasure) Now I am back to film after 6 years of M digital , that I keep no need to sell. Sometimes I use them just to have pictures immediatly the only advantage of digital . That's all , but don't use them commonly. If you have some more pictures of Syria , please post them here.
