mikemgb Posted November 21, 2016 Share #23986 Posted November 21, 2016 Mike very nice grain and lovely pictures specially the first Henry Thank you Henry, that first photo of the second group is the only one not taken by me, but it is of me, I just pre-focused and handed the camera to a friend. I have always liked high contrast and lots of grain, although not in every photograph, but it does mean that in situations like this I'm perfectly OK with the grain. I will mention though, a Leica IIIa is really not the best choice of camera in this situation, the rangefinder is completely useless in low light conditions! All but the last image were scale focused and on the roll of 36 exposures I only missed focus a couple of times. I'll just add that the Summar is an excellent portrait lens and it suits this film very well.

MT0227 Posted November 21, 2016 Share #23989 Posted November 21, 2016 Thanks fellas! I always appreciate the kind words and encouragement. Superb color Marc H. These are wonderful, Marc. I particularly love the swirling colours in the first shot. Sublime colors, Marc. I Esp love the first one. This is sterling stuff Marc.
MT0227 Posted November 21, 2016 Share #23990 Posted November 21, 2016 Thanks Eoin.....the SWC may not be the most compact tool for the street. However at f/8 it does become, more or less, a 21mm point and shoot (in 35mm terms) for subjects within 8-10 feet. Set it to shoot at hyper-focal, point, compose....click. Great stuff, Marc - Inspiring!
philipus Posted November 21, 2016 Share #23991 Posted November 21, 2016 Fully agree. It's the modern times that have destroyed the general dress sense today. Terrible, terrible. The first photo is much more handsome

MT0227 Posted November 21, 2016 Share #23997 Posted November 21, 2016 In my view, the photographer adds to the shot. Capturing the silhouette as you did makes it more than just another fireworks shot. Maybe crop a little off the top and bottom? Doc Henry Posted November 21, 2016 Author Share #24000 Posted November 21, 2016 Hello Henry, welcome back aboard. I hope this thread gives you a little distraction in troublesome times! All the best wishes! I continue with another shot from my visit to Bavaria: Bild-1-422.jpg Mamiya 645 1000s - Velvia Henry...it's nice to have you back. So sorry to hear the sad news, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Very sorry to hear this Henry, my thoughts are with you. Thanks Marc, Mike and James for your support . My sister had a stroke and the mortality rate is high after one year, 28% may die. Neil....not sure I'd call is a look alike....the SWC is more or less a Lens with a film back attached. Here's my walking stick: Marc, from what I read, the image size of this camera largely exceeds the MF digital something as more than 7000 px in length , with the advantages of the film ie softness of the lines and perfect color Best Henry
