Well now we know some more info, and narrowing in on the problem. This feature is helpful with removing dust using color film, you want to be able to use it. Until you get a permanent fix, give your negatives a good dusting ;).

If you are getting the exact same line in the exact same place, regardless of negative...I'm wondering if the infrared cleaning software is picking something up from the scanner. How hard is it to give the lens elements a dusting?

im on the way to India. When I get back I will buy a can of air and try opening the front hatch of the PlusTek scanner and give it a blast.......... just worried I f@ck something else up

Thank you Eoin, yes I am now back in full swing :)

I like it when you're bored, Philip! Hopefully you're better now?

Really cool Adam, well done also from a technical perspective. I am quite surprised to see these fairly muted colours. I certainly don't mind at all, it is a very nice photograph, but it is not how I'm used to seeing Ektar.

Great shots Steve. Very immersive.

some shots from a photo walk in the south bronx, hunts point section. color is ektar 100, b&w is adox chs 100 ii -- leica ma and m4 were used, some shots with 50mm summicron, some with 35mm summicron asph

Very, very nice Marc. Makes it not look like a building but like a pyramid. I would never have guessed this is a skyscraper.

Dont tell him that Henry, certainly don't encourage him.

We both know mine ended in tears.

Gary

Ok Gary chut !!!! :)

Not to forget anything of what I said above , I thought Neil had set ICE option on his scanner. :)

Here's how I do when I scan a film negative :

I remove all the dust over my negative (a band of 6 pictures) both sides of the negative with an air compressor.

Then I put ICE * for color only and color process monochrom film , useful in this case to have a blower pear or

air bomb or air like me coming from a compressor.

* As I see , Ice removes dusts  but also small imperfections in the color negative and enhance a little the photo.

Best

Henry

* ICE = Image Correction & Enhancement

citation Nikon Coolscan :

"Digital ICE™ (Image Correction & Enhancement), a refined version of the function known as "CleanImage" , removes dust, scratches and finger prints from scanned images Digital ICE™ applies to color film and color process monochrome film, but is not recommended for use with Kodachrome film".

Very nice Henry. This brings me back to an inter-rail trip in the mid-90s. A few friends and I decided to use the two-week study period before the (whole-semester) exam on criminal and procedural law to travel around Europe, including this area of France. Turned out to be one of my best exam results.

Thanks Philip more for yoy soon :)

Nice colour shots with the Portra, Marc !

For today, I chose this one. Film is Ilford HP5Plus ( unusual, mostly I use the Kodak TX ) - camera Leica IIIf / Elmar from 1936.

Photo shot in the south of France, Winter 2016

This litlle blur gives a picture superb

Nice photo of trees JM

Special for Henry ( but for all of You aswell ) : the Lying Bouddha Henry posted his pic  - from a different angle. I took it in February 2016. Leica IIIf, Kodak TX400.

Also, I love colour, but I don't want to go for the "full" equipment again... also, I really want to limit everything to a minimum of technical luggage

Maybe I'm wrong for our time with this, but that's ok for me. I know my kids want different "Kicks" from pics. And that's also ok :-)

Yes JM nice composition a great shot

Thanks

Henry
