MT0227 Posted October 18, 2016 Share #22642 Posted October 18, 2016 Makina 670 Portra 400 VueScan/LS-9000 A little graffiti from the Boardwalk of Asbury Park, NJ. I was surprised to see how vivid Portra rendered the colors in both images, especially the second. Both represent how I see it when there in person, with hardly any editing in post. Velvia seems to be an obvious and popular choice for graffiti, Portra seems to do a pretty good job to me....no? 2016-07-04-0002 by Marc Tauber, on Flickr 2016-07-04-0003 by Marc Tauber, on Flickr
gbealnz Posted October 18, 2016 Share #22643 Posted October 18, 2016 Indeed Marc, based on what you have posted, and bearing in mind we don't know how vivid (or not) the original scene was. I'd say though, Portra would have to be by far and away easier to use, exposing wise and processing wise, surely. Gary

In all cases the color is better with film than with the digital It's my conviction since 5 years that I return to film Regards Henry Edited October 18, 2016 by Doc Henry

Doc Henry Posted October 18, 2016 Author Share #22647 Posted October 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Henry, From my own experience, any standard lens of focal length 35mm and wider will produce that "Pisa Tower" effect if shooting while tilting the camera---and yes, it has its charm! I own a MIREX tilt & shift adapter that allows me to use Hasselblad lenses on Canon EOS bodies. In the past, I used it on a 5DII, until I got fed up with all those digitals and sold it. I'm about to use it on a EOS 1 or similar. The combo is heavy and bulky but it is fun! Plus the Carl Zeiss lens! Paul Paul you're right ... I begin to have WA effect already with my 35 mm for some pictures. Sometimes It brings a nice effect for one picture. It doesn't exist WA for Hasselblad ? I think the effect is more visible, no ? gbealnz Posted October 18, 2016 Share #22648 Posted October 18, 2016 My comment Henry was the decision between Velvia and Portra, with Portra being possibly an easier choice. Gary
Doc Henry Posted October 18, 2016 Author Share #22649 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) Ok Gary sorry for the confusion , but as I said to Adam Velvia and Portra are 2 good films may be the blue is more beautiful with Velvia deeper than Portra but Portra is a bit sharper !
