It's an interesting film I find. Of the two developers I know - HC110 and Diafine - it works better in HC110. I've shot it at EI1000 with good results. As can be seen in the series above, with Diafine it becomes a bit grainy at higher EI in darker settings and perhaps a bit mushy. The only way around it in post is to crush the blacks but I didn't do that for the series because I wanted to retain some tonality. Then again I shot that roll from late afternoon into the night and as you can see on the earlier shots the grain is much better controlled. Overall it is a great very versatile film that also dries quite flat which helps scanning. Being movie stock it also has quite cool halos around bright lights, which I like a lot (at least I assume that's the reason; seems similar to how Cinestill behaves).

So, this is what Double X looks like, thank you Philip. I have an unopened roll in the freezer, not sure what to do with it. Might have to try it.

Really nice, JM. Old Tri-X as in 5063? Which developer is this with? I really like the tonality.

True about the white highlights , lovely !

Yes, 5063 it was, back in the early 90s . Cannot remember the developer I was using at a friend's lab, too long ago, plus some scanning and pp in the chain of events since then.

I have a question for Adam :)
I saw these films including Velvia Adam brought from Israel are impeccable
How it happened about the security gates at airports ?....in a protective bag? or not
Thank you for your lighting

Best

nothing fancy, Henry.

On the way to Israel, I put all my film packs into a huge insulated lunch bag and ran it through the security x-ray machine for hand bags at JFK.  No iso above 400 so no worries.

On the way back, I had most of the film already processed.  But for the rolls that I didn't, it was a much lighter load so I had the airport security person at the airport in Tel Aviv hand check the rolls so they wouldn't have to go through the x-ray machine again.  He did so w/o any fancy equipment or swabs.  Just an abundance of common sense. :)

I found some natural GRAFFITI in the sandstones of the crater within Mount Sodom (adjacent to the Dead Sea)

All natural colors from the very fragile sandstone.

Cool, eh?

Extremely cool Adam. Nature rocks (haha). I particularly like the strong colours, shapes and lines of the first one.

Same answer from me Henry, colour. It has more feel to it, the sky is more defined, and I like the golden colour of the sand-bars, something that is lost in B&W.

Gary

Thanks Gary :)  .

I'll give my final answer when I print 17 x 24 in b&w by myself and in color by the Leica store Laboratory  :)
