Speaking of b&w films and developers, I've found that I really like Rollei Retro 80S in Diafine. I've shot it in parallel with PanF (which I shoot at EI40 usually) and the Rollei consistently gives better tonality (plus it dries com-pe-le-te-ly flat). I believe this is because PanF requires over-exposure to prevent blocking up the shadows but with a base ISO of 50 it becomes a very difficult film to shoot in all but the brightest light.

I'll post some PanF later but in the meantime here are two garden-related Rollei shots, both with the excellent 50 Summicron 11817.

I missed this post, sorry, but just got the newsletter which linked to this page.

I find it borderline hilarious that Leica decides to smack many digital M shooters' hopes for a new model by launching a polaroid camera :D I'm sure it will be a pretty cool camera though, but will it be worth the premium over the Instax cameras? Likely not, then again that has not stopped people from buying the Leica-branded Panasonics.

All that being said, I really love that they've dusted off Prof Berek's dog again, Hektor. It says f12.7 (!) 60mm. Anyone know the focal length equivalent in 135 or 120?

Leica will announce a new pocket instant camera tomorrow, the Sofort.

It will use Fuji and Leica prepackaged instant film, which will come in color and B&W.

Cost will be around $300

Do we "like" ????

Eoin thank you for this first testimony . It touches me to see that it still exists in this world to me unacceptable inequalities.

As for me, I try to help as I can , but if everyone can take the hand and live in peace and happiness...

... but I know it's not easy

Best regards Eoin

Henry

Maybe if we could all walk a mile in someone else's shoes (if they have shoes), we might be a little more understanding of their trauma. I'm happy to see your photo's, knowing that some are extending a helping hand.

Wow, Philip! These are stunning. I haven't tried the Retro 80S. I may need to add some to the next order I'm putting together. I've got some more Pan F, RPX 25, and some Rollei Tech Pan (similar to the old Kodak Tech Pan, I hope) in there so far.

...Out of the roll of Tri-X I exposed earlier this week, I posted up

Rushes and Reeds as the last of four as it ranked that way in my view. It has become my first and only picture to make it to the Flickr Explore page. Beats me as to why!

Chris

i can see why it got selected, Chris - I really like it. It has an airy flow to it, with the bullrush heads giving it substance.

And Eoin, these look less contrasty than some earlier street shots. Is that a change of film, developer or my vision?

I'm going to have to sit and think for a bit on assessing which of my pictures I like. fabulous, Chris. Glad they came around to you. It is well deserved and i hope it brings lot of visibility to your growing portfolio of steller photos. Best, Adam

Thanks, Henry.  The unique qualities of the Dead Sea and the gear and film that I used will make a professional out of anyone, and I am proof of that :)

I have two unopened 100ft reels of Rollei Retro 80 in the freezer. I shall have to load up some canisters and try it out.

I've rather given up on Diafine for 35mm as it always seems grainy. For large format, though, it's splendid and very convenient (and cheap!) when large volumes of developer are needed. Diafine led me into dismissing TMax films, but in HC-110 they are lovely. It just proves that there aren't simple rules to go by, and films shine best in the right chemicals. I have just stuffed some Pan F in a camera and I'm walking off to the garage to pick up my truck (new steering shaft - ouch!). I'll try it at EI 40 as it is a sunny day here and a slow speed won't be a problem.

Some "Snowdrops" from the garden recently. I find them difficult to photograph, for some reason.

Gary typical parisian shots with its little "place" and streets. :)

Atmosphere well reproduced by film , softness of lines and b&w tone

Thanks for posting

I think Plustek is a good scanner. I discover recently TMax100 real deep black.
