If I use glass I sometimes do get Newton rings. I haven't tried the Better Scanning ANR glass but Focal Point's but it doesn't help. Wet mounting isn't a problem though and has the added benefit of dealing with dust.

Philip

Philip you must try this glass , I bought 3 when I had my Epson V700 :)

Film becomes flat and improve the general rendering of the image without ANR.

It cost few dozens Euros (around 30E if I have good memory)

Douglas of Betterscanning has put a special coating.Glass bought at DIY department

have no effect.

Yes, Henry, but did you know that once peeled the emulsion side is a medium format film negative just waiting to be extracted, scanned/printed and enjoyed on a large scale? ??? You are not alone as most people do not know this :)

Adam, thanks for the info--very interesting. That Sofort looks like thus turning into a pocket MF camera with a Leica lens! By the way, do you happen to know the dimensions of the negative surface of Fuji films? The company's site mentions several sizes.

Paul it's interesting because it is an alternative to pure digital and has the "print" immediately

I think you'll have some grain like film

Picture format 62 x 46 mm; dimensions 124 x 94 x 58 mm, weight 305 g. Rather, a "shoulder" MF camera.

No, it wont work with the Fuji instafilm. I heard that Leica is working on packaging its own instant film for the Camera; and it would be nice if it could make a peel apart version for this purpose...

Seems it can use the Fuji film. (which was sort of most logical to me).

I see sellers almost giving away polaroid backs for Hasselblad cameras but I've never really considered getting one because I thought there is no film for them. Which compatible films exist these days, then? Years ago I used a Polaroid camera and absolutely loved it so I could easily see myself using a pola back with my Hasselblad.

yes, at least with the Fuji FC-100 and FP-3000B that were recently discontinued, the exposure required was much more light slide film.  You have to be pretty spot on.  But the results that I get with the 3000 ISO Fuji instant film, which is about the size of a 6x9 negative, with my  50yr old 100mm 2.8 Zeiss Planar are simply sublime.  I have amassed a collection of indoor shots with my family that is making a neat scrap book...

The polaroid back is great for checking exposure and lighting ratios, etc. (which is what it was intended for) but in my experience the Hasselblad/Polaroid back combination isn't much of a substitute for a more dedicated Polaroid camera that will make better use of the pack film. IMO the prints are too small and you end up with a large area of wasted film around the square.

I'll continue to bore you with thoughts on compositions. So this idea of negative space, right, what's your view on that? I find it tricky to execute sometimes, particularly when there are several planes in a photo. Here are three examples. Not the greatest photos (though Henry might enjoy the balloon photo). All Rollei Retro 80S in Diafine with the 50 Summicron (11817).

Thank you Henry. I know you love both mediums so this will appeal possibly to you.

Out of curiosity I fiddled a bit in Photoshop.

At the time I took this pic, I also had the Leica T with me, with the 28 Elmarit M.

The R8 had the R28-70.

I took the T shot, then stuffed the T into the bag, and extracted the R8, and took a shot. (I did this a fair chunk of the day, taking shots with both cameras, from similar/same viewpoint).

The two shots I then opened in CS6, cut them roughly in half and placed them sort of together. It's not a perfect join, I obviously shuffled slightly, and the respective FOV's were not exact, but you get the idea. Left side if R8 with Kodak 200. The right is Leica T, DNG.

Philip I like much the first for the composition and the nice b&w tone

The second there is too much white space to the left

I do not know if my argument is valid . I would liked a watering can next to the tap

instead of the garbage can lid :) to stay in the garden composition

For the last picture is the moon down at right to replace the jets ? :D

Thanks for posting and asking for our thoughts
