Today I took a Pentax 645N with Velvia 100, and a 645NII with Rollei Crossbird to the beach. Different lenses, but it will be interesting to compare the colours. I'll be scanning until late into the night!

very nice, Gary.  How are you getting along with the SWC??

Thanks Adam. It's early days to be honest, and normally I am a "fair bit of huff and puff, and if I don't get along with something immediately I get shot of it".

It's taken me literally years to find one of these gems, so I will bide my time. If I can't get along, I have decided to put it aside, and try it again later. Well, that's the plan.

Two things are becoming apparent, one which you and Chris(M) eluded to. This being the shadow. I like the square format, but of the latest two rolls, at least half of them have my cursed shadow in them, aaarrrrgggghhhh. So, I trim them slightly, but if I am going to do that I might as well just use the A-16 back!!! Part of this is the low sun angle right now, we are mid-winter.

The other is cost, a roll of colour 120 is not cheap, and 12 shots is a third of what I get with the R8/M6 etc. Then processing, and then the need for a larger scanner. I initially thought I'd shoot slides, but I now find E-6 processing is all but dead in the water in NZ, so I am avoiding this. B&W I can and do myself, so this is where I am leaning. Despite what The Doc will suggest I am not really interested in C-41 processing.

Don't let this negativity fool you though, I enjoy the weirdness, the weight, the bulk, and the simplicity of this brick.

I've been away for a while (and hope to have new material to post soon). It's great to see so many new participants in the thread.

Here's another one from MUC. I remember I shot at minimum distance with the 80 Planar and tried to keep very still (Provia 100).

Gary, I am with you on the mid winter shadow thing! Solution: Get used to it and consciously check before shooting, or shoot from another angle, or wait till the sun moves. ;)

I use a 203FE with both a 40mm and 30mm (fisheye) lens, so i do sympathize about not just the shadow, but the actual feet that can appear in the frame. However, IMO, the square format is so good, I live with the occasional intrusion.

I thought the plan was that you would not get on with the SWC, and would then pass it to me gratis. I guess I dozed off during the meeting...

Hmm. One of these days I shall have to pass on my SWC. But in the meantime...

I didn't expect to be saying this, but I prefer the Rollei film for colour rendition, but the Fuji is much less grainy. Oh, well, I don't intend to continue E6 after my one more remaining roll of film.

Great stuff Klaus...I really like this one a lot.  You have an incredible ability to take something simple and turn it into art.

Thank you very much! But perhaps I had just the luck to notice the already existing Art and took a picture of it :-)

I don know, if this depends on the scannner, but the stones in the focus point are very sharp, maybe sharper than scanned with a common flatbed scanner. But both the Fuji- and the Rollei-Picture seem to turn out very grainy in the sky.

Usually MF- Scans from those fine grain films like Provia/ Velvia do show almost no grain.

Chris it's superb for me , I mean color

The true color of water mixed with sand. The blue of sky is also faithful.

Thanks for posting Chris :)

Really nice series with flowers

Best
