Fotoklaus Posted June 16, 2016 Share #17150 Posted June 16, 2016 (edited) Klaus I must test TMax one day Superb waves in this picture Best H. You can´t go wrong with Tmax400, in my opinion. Just developed in D76 1:1 with the times the Data sheet tells. That´s it. Works perfect for me. Fine grain, superb tonality and sharpness. No special developer needed, no magic, just proofed material. Edited June 16, 2016 by Fotoklaus

A miller Posted June 16, 2016 Share #17158 Posted June 16, 2016 Next one very nice greens and delicate details in the droplets, Erl. Thanks for sharing these. I'd love to hear from Adan why these greens are so horrible as he claims about portra 400... Rolleiflex SLX, Planar 80 with extension ring, Velvia 100 F Herbstlaub_SLX_Nov15_04.jpg Great colors here, Klaus. What differences do you see in the currently available Provia 100F and Velvia 100 (not the F)?? I am not sure I can articulate many differences at this point in my experimentation, although as between the two I tend to go with the Provia.
Fotoklaus Posted June 16, 2016 Share #17159 Posted June 16, 2016 very nice greens and delicate details in the droplets, Erl. Thanks for sharing these. I'd love to hear from Adan why these greens are so horrible as he claims about portra 400... Great colors here, Klaus. What differences do you see in the currently available Provia 100F and Velvia 100 (not the F)?? I am not sure I can articulate many differences at this point in my experimentation, although as between the two I tend to go with the Provia. The Provia is not as highly colour- saturated as the Velvia. Velvia has warmer tones but turns skin colour into red. So maybe the better overall-film might be Provia. If bright colours are necessary, I would go for the velvia. Some say provia looks a bit "cold", but I can´t say this.Neutral to a bit higher saturation, in my opinion.
EoinC Posted June 16, 2016 Share #17160 Posted June 16, 2016 Thanks for treading lightly That shot isn't desaturated in Post. It was scanned setting white balance/levels to the film base colour and then white balance in Lightroom from the grey path. I think the palette of colours in the soft afternoon light maybe suited Ektar a bit more here? But I don't disagree that Ektar can be fussy and hard to correct sometimes. I generally prefer Portra but I am clumsily stumbling into an ongoing discussion there and defer to those with more experience, this is roll #15 or so of Ektar for me. I also just bought a box of Fuji C41 to see if I prefer that. *I can also see comparing the two shots, one has a building with red pillars, the other has given me an orange building! I'd love to see what is actually on my negatives, rather than what the scanner did, I should really get some prints to find out. Another shot from the same roll To me, both of these shots have colour that is very close to how I see Sydney light - In fact I picked the first one as Australia before seeing any text. The Portra shot less so. Thanks, Coogee (Eastern Stater if ever there was one). Regards, Eoin
