As Gary pointed out, it's a 1X - 5X EF-mount Macro lens. At 5X magnification @ f/2.8, the DOF is 0.048mm, making it quite sensitive. That's why I'm using it on a focus rail.

Thanks Eoin and Gary :)

BTW I do not mean to start a discussion digi vs film, I enjoy both . Here since I have both shots taken from the same vantage point I thought I'd share :-)

Best regards, JM.

Why did you go to one of the worst places in England, business?

ha, ha, LOL

This was me just being a cheesy tourist...

It was my first time with my SWC there and I thought I'd take a reverse pyramid approach and start with the post-card photos and them seek out more original photos

Here is a not so touristy photo from Canary Wharf...

Thanks JM for posting these 2 pictures .

This allows the gentlemen here to see if there is a difference or not.

you traveled with your tripod?

Hey Steve - Yes, but not the one that I use at home in NYC.  I bought one of these carbon fiber travel tripods:

http://www.amazon.com/Sirui-T-025x-Carbon-Fiber-Tripod/dp/B00AZTCHK2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

Sirui T-025x Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head

it is under 2 pounds, has a max weight of 12.8 pounds, folds to 11.8"

Pretty nifty

And it fit nicely (along with the SWC, film backs, film and other sundry accessories) in this camera bag that I have...

I was a little unsure of the success that I would have with the long exposure, which in some case on the bustling Tower Bridge exceeded 2 minutes.  But I think it worked out quite well..

Here is an example of a very long exposure that the tripod seemed to work reasonably well with...

It's another cliche tourist photo, although a slightly less cheesy composition...

When you speak "long exposure" in this case how much ? you mean 1/15 or less ?

Great picture Adam

I have also a carbon fiber tripod (Manfroto) at the same price of yours.

You're right for travel it's lighter less 1,5-2 kgs

Best

Henry - i mean like 2.5 minutes, which was really necessary for a 100 iso film that i shot at 80 iso and a stopped down f16 in order to get corner to corner sharpness (in my experience, long exposures with superwide lenses tend to lose corner to corner sharpness if not stopped down enough) Edited by A miller

Well, I thought your last two pictures from London where pretty good - but the colors in this one are absolutely fantastic!

Thank you, James.  I really appreciate it.  As cliche as the photos that I have (and will be sharing) are, the film infuses a certain authenticity to them that, I think, distinguishes the photos from the run-of-the-mill digital photos.  Just google "tower bridge at night" and scroll through the images and you'll see what I mean.  There are some spectacular scenes and lighting but, to me, the colors are -f$%#k'd up in most of the cases...

A shot from a few years ago, of Late Taupo, a few hours drive from where we live.

Evidently Singapore is the same rough dimension as this lake. Just imaging THAT many people crammed into there.

I can't remember the camera or the film... Probably a Nikon FM with a short telephoto lens...

A mastershot B&W, Klaus.  If were a 4x5 or 8x10 it would be fit for any world class museum or gallery (not to say detract from the 35mm; but I hope you know what I mean).  Amazing.
