Doc Henry Posted May 24, 2016 Author Share #16001 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) As Adam noted, 3 stops underexposed may not be salvagable but I did read it could be pushed to 400. Nothing to lose really. Definite experiment coming up I think. RP, I often push my Portra 400 Isos to 800 and even 1200 Isos when I am in bad light condition. As you know , you can use the option "DX" on your M7 Regards Henry Edited May 24, 2016 by Doc Henry

A miller Posted May 24, 2016 Share #16004 Posted May 24, 2016 RP, I often push my Portra 400 Isos to 800 and even 1200 Isos when I am in bad light condition. As you know , you can use the option "DX" on your M7 Regards Henry Henry - i dont want to dismiss it totally (and who knows, it conceivably could produce interesting results), but i am willing to bet a large sum of money that a 3 stop push of CS 50 will result in very thin negatives that will have very high contrast levels and a color palette that is seriously, as we say, facocked. The lower the ISO, the less capacity to push... Besides, portra 400 is somply a much higher quality film stock...

gbealnz Posted May 24, 2016 Share #16008 Posted May 24, 2016 So, if it's a gone burger with the 50 - 400 push, is there any sense in going completely off the wall, and trying B&W chemistry? Gary
EoinC Posted May 24, 2016 Share #16009 Posted May 24, 2016 Just a thought. Would that 40mm disrobing fit on my S and if so what FL would that equates too Your autofill is a never-ending source of joy, Neil. The 40mm "Disrobing" will need an adaptor to fit the 'S', and will equate to a 40mm. You already have Leica S wide angle, don't you? If so, I doubt if the Distsgon's going to give you anything new.

gnuyork Posted May 24, 2016 Share #16014 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Stop....... I'm already on the edge of taking it with me. The files out of that camera are amazing even if they have a vertical line through the middle of them Oh I was poking fun at your typo "heave" . I am not opposed to traveling light, but I would face such a dilemma as well (4x5, 5DmkII, M6, Sigma Faveon, etc.) If I had an S2 that would be even harder to leave home (and would replace the 5D). I think the M6 and the S2 would be a happy compromise. Edited May 24, 2016 by gnuyork

gbealnz Posted May 24, 2016 Share #16017 Posted May 24, 2016 Fixer failure - Correct? Not sure Eoin, how long did you give it in the fix? I usually go about 2 -4 minutes, then pop the top, look at the film in the reel and if clear, give it another 2-4 minutes (the old "twice the clearing time" rule). What does the neg look like, is it "parting" as in pieces coming off? Could it be reticulation (although to my recollection this is normally not spotty like this). Gary The developing was outsourced - I haven't picked up the negatives yet, Gary, but the white spots (black on the negatives) are common across the scans sent to me. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 25, 2016 Share #16020 Posted May 25, 2016 Neil, In Vuescan...for multiple 6X6 fames, got to the input tab..you need to (1) set the fame spacing to 60 or 61 and (2) the frame offset to +/- 0.5 to 1.0 Fame spacing in (1) tells it how large the fame is you are scanning and (2) offset adjusts the gap between frames. I use 61 and +0.5 for starters with my Coolscan. This is the only way I've figured out how to scan multiple MF frames. Good Luck! Lovely mate I will try it when I get back home in a months time.
