Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 23, 2016 Share #15941 Posted May 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just to add to your woes Neil, your scans are mostly a little flat. When using VueScan (properly) you must adjust BP and WP after scanning. Also the scans above have a distinct blue cast and some cyan cast. ie. they need a little warming up, but first fix that line in the scan. Easy starting point is reinstall the latest ver. of VueScan. Than can often fix multiple problems. If not successful, send the scans to Ed Hamrick (of VueScan) for assessment. Erl My scans above are without any edits, normally I would adjust the black and whiter point but for demo proposes I wanted to show exactly what I am getting out of the scanner. Ive just sent Ed an email Thanks

A miller Posted May 24, 2016 Share #15942 Posted May 24, 2016 totally bizarre, Neil. I am sorry that you are suffering through this. Please try to be patient, though. Once you get settled in a workflow you will be glad you stuck with it.

gbealnz Posted May 24, 2016 Share #15945 Posted May 24, 2016 Still learning with the scanning, took cognizance of the settings Adam posted about, and tried them. Got a huge scan, likely too big for practical web use, but a starting point nevertheless. Doc Henry Posted May 24, 2016 Author Share #15946 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Very nice, Somme? Sent from my SM-G903F using Tapatalk It's superb Henry, really nice, and with respect to the film/digital pair you posted earlier, I have to be honest and say there wasn't anything in either that would make me turn. Both were nice, both could pass to the uninitiated as a perfect picture. I don't get too excited about the argument, as to me there is little to argue about. I use and love both. Gary Thanks GaryS and GaryB for your nice comments. I was initially a blue mask and I am unable to correct. I was afraid you don't like this picture. Minh and you both have given me the answer . Merci As GaryB knows I love poppies like him.Gary, the poppy petals are "thick" versus "cigarette paper" in digital + "sharper" edges of petals in digital and not sweet (film) . Have you noticed that? Best Henry GaryS no it's in our region of Champagne Edited May 24, 2016 by Doc Henry
Doc Henry Posted May 24, 2016 Author Share #15947 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Well that didn't last long. Now all of a sudden all my scans have this vertical line running right down the frigging middle of my scans. Its not the negs they are clean and free from scratches. I Have just contacted Plustek via there online web form and I will see what they have to say. Problem is I am flying back to the rig tonight and won't be back on KL for 3 months......................Digital is starting to look frigging good again :( :( Neil may be one dust on the CCD sensor of the scan but the scan is new . GaryB knows that or as I just read posts above problem software of scanner ? Contact Plustek. Ask them ! Henry I prefer color pictures through Silverfast What means "Silverfish" ? "Digital is starting to look frigging good again" perhaps more practice but in artistic side, film is better as you show in your pictures ... and the possibility to print on silver paper with an enlarger, no comparison The problem will be solved if it's the software Edited May 24, 2016 by Doc Henry

gbealnz Posted May 24, 2016 Share #15952 Posted May 24, 2016 Nice Gary On your Plustek have you "slide" or "positive" option ? Rg H. Yes Henry, Positive/Negative, and it changes the "look" of the input. If scanning a neg, and you select negative you end up with a "normal" scan. If you select positive, it ends up "reversed", if you follow me. Quite simple in use. Gary

gbealnz Posted May 24, 2016 Share #15954 Posted May 24, 2016 Time for a bit of show and tell, albeit slightly dated, these were taken about 10 years ago possibly. They will be taken with my old R6 and 50 Summicron combo, with one of my children doing the taking (selfie-sticks weren't around then, nor were they robust enough to support the R6/50 Summicron). Me in the "office", and the view from the office. Doesn't always look that good though. Gary Welcome, dear visitor! Doc Henry Posted May 24, 2016 Author Share #15957 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) No idea about the "RGB Calibrated" question Henry sorry. You can see I'm destined to stick with B&W Gary For color, your scanner is "calibrated" in the Red Green and Blue (RGB) the three color components. It is factory set You can check in with your Vuescan. So you get a standard calibrated Tiff photo .After if you want to correct you can do it with software of your choice (LR , PS, C1) Gary the color is so nice .... when it's full of color , as you have showed in your posts Best regards Henry similar for b&w calibrated for "black and white grayscale" Edited May 24, 2016 by Doc Henry
