Neil - Others will differ, but my settings are as follows:

"Input" tab - I use 64 bits, not auto.  I also use "Fine Mode," which is down below and can't be seen indoor screen shot.  I preview at 667 and scan at 4000 (or whatever the full res is based on your scanner)

Crop - I use auto

Color - I use Auto, and set both the black and white points to ZERO, and set all color spaces to Adobe (not Apple/sRGB)

Output - Printed size = scan size; I also make TIFF files rather than RAW files.

Prefs - this isn't really a substantive tab.  although I use this to set the histogram by setting "graph" to "image".  It may not be exactly the same on your but keep fiddling with it until you get a nice histogram; this is important.

Good luck.

Adam

Thank you, Henry, I think I am beginning to feel I am getting what I wanted from a 10x8 film camera.

Mind you, after four rolls of medium format slides in the last week, and a weekend of 10x8 sheet film, I am more than ready to play with the M2 next!

A great portrait. As the elements in the picture  normally are supposed say something about the sitter I am kept wondering about the meaning of the hedgehog...  ;)
