A bit more colour to keep the Doc happy, but I'm about done with colour, B&W is more me, at this stage anyway.

Okay I just bought the Vuescan software and it sure looks more user friendly.

Below is the settings I am using.............does anyone have heartburn with these settings??

Neil - Others will differ, but my settings are as follows:

"Input" tab - I use 64 bits, not auto.  I also use "Fine Mode," which is down below and can't be seen indoor screen shot.  I preview at 667 and scan at 4000 (or whatever the full res is based on your scanner)

Crop - I use auto

Color - I use Auto, and set both the black and white points to ZERO, and set all color spaces to Adobe (not Apple/sRGB)

Output - Printed size = scan size; I also make TIFF files rather than RAW files.

Prefs - this isn't really a substantive tab.  although I use this to set the histogram by setting "graph" to "image".  It may not be exactly the same on your but keep fiddling with it until you get a nice histogram; this is important.

Good luck.
