Advertisement Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Hi Doc Henry, Take a look here I like film...(open thread). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MT0227 Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13862 Posted April 12, 2016 Adam...pretty sure you have this shot....the one I said I liked a few weeks ago. You shot the stature from the east side; from the feet, looking up. Adam, nice angle ! Could you rent a MF panoramic camera and try a similar shot with the lower part of the statue / street scene included?! Or try a 15mm on the M3 ? My 2 cents, JM. MT0227 Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13863 Posted April 12, 2016 I need to revisit this location with my MF gear and some clouds. I think you are allowed a few more visits before declaring insanity I hit this guy once again last week...for the third time... Is the third time a charm, or positive evidence that I have finally gone insane ??? Tri-X (6x6) Park Avenue, NYC looking up.jpg
A miller Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13864 Posted April 12, 2016 Adam...pretty sure you have this shot....the one I said I liked a few weeks ago. You shot the stature from the east side; from the feet, looking up. Thanks a lot, Marc, for remembering. Yes, that shot was nice but it lacked detail in the clouds/sky and for that reason it isn't a keeper. I tried to get that same POV last week but to do so I needed to actually (and stupidly) use up some of Park Avenue. The shot from a while ago was taken on a very quiet Sunday. Last week was rush hour and I am too young for a hip replacement procedure - or worse....
wattsy Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13865 Posted April 12, 2016 3 where is this church in ruins Ian ? Henry, it's Glastonbury Abbey in Somerset. The more famous Tor (with St Michael's Tower on top) is visible in the background (right).
MT0227 Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13866 Posted April 12, 2016 Adam....The sky is not pure white, there's some/enough tonal variability from the clouds. Perhaps not the most feature full sky, but not blank. Again, there's plenty to keep you interested where the sky is immaterial and a non factor to the capture. I think it's the best perspective for this piece; second is the one from the back looking SW. JMO. Thanks a lot, Marc, for remembering. MT0227 Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13867 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I will have to go back with my SWC/M on a early Sunday morning; what did you use to make your initial capture if I may ask? MT0227 Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13870 Posted April 12, 2016 Very interesting, Marc. Thanks for the opinion. It is good to get so many opinions. I can't get enough opinions, positive or critical... The only critical comment would be the fact we are loosing a fine photo due to this feature full sky thing

EoinC Posted April 12, 2016 Share #13880 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Here is another perspective (although the first I posted seems to hold together better...) A way long exposure with the 6 stop ND filter, with Tri-x's horrible reciprocity failure (about a 2 min exposure) Tri-X (6x6) looking up2.jpg This is the one I like the best (so far), Adam. I can live without feet for that perspective. Edited April 12, 2016 by EoinC
